Agreed MANY large companies do this though, it's legalized extortion...

I would highly suggest if anyone else has those trademarks take them down, these companies are more than likely searching for sites with them.

Think about it $4700 x 1000 = $4,700,000

Now if it was a copyright issue they would be required to issue a DCMA take down notice first, but since it's a trademark I have no idea

By the way, the image itself was hosted by photobucket.

Should a forum owner be liable when someone posts an image of Monster hosted by photobucket?

You may be able to get off on that since you are providing a "service" contact a lawyer familiar with the internet

The low figure of $4700 is to convince you it's not worth hiring a lawyer, and you might as well just pay it.

Well I don't know that any in my area are familiar with the internet, but I will be contacting a lawyer. I don't want to be getting a bill for $4750 every time someone posts a stupid monster or heineken logo.
