So i have been thinking...do you think there would be a market for custom myspace layouts being sold directly to myspace users?
like not a typical tables layout, but maybe a div overlay layout, or even another type of cool layout just personalized for them? I read on some faq's that people ask for custom layouts all the time, and the people don't have time so they say no.
What if someone did have the time and could do it for them, do you think this could bring in some profits?

It may be a stupid idea but i thought it may be worth a shot..

I've seen them being sold on eBay... and actually selling.

Definately has possibilites if you find the perfect way to market it.

the only problem i can forsee, is many users NOT having paypal or a credit card.
and then theres always the issue of me actually NOT having enough time, just as the creators of many of the websites who say they dont have enough time.

I have seen companies that do really custom band profiles...

this is usually something some graphic design companies do....

I'm sure there is a market for it but not sure how much fun it would be. I can imagine lots of time spent (wasted?) just trying to get out what they want and at the same time educating them on everything. I would think it would be a nightmare keeping that many end users happy.

But as Connections mentioned, there could be more money and less gritty work doing it for companies and bands and such. Even just doing one larger profile users layout would help get you a lot of word of mouth work from other higher profile people.

YourMySpace.com offered custom MySpace pages for a price. The site no longer exists... so it couldn't have been a great market.

Most people think they'd want a profile for a few bucks, but nothing more, no real profit. Users change their profile designs so often you wouldn't get repeat visitors, they wouldn't pay each time, well the majority not enough to validate the time you'll spend.

I mentioned this in another thread, there is a market, but it's not your average joe/jane for all of the reasons stated here already.

The market is the high end corporate/band/organisation/political party/etc type profile, people who will pay a decent amount for a profile.

Ted: Yes I think most of us have already figured out your probably one of those profile creators who link out to porn/etc (at least thats what I think)

I think their is already a business for this but people pay directly to myspace.

Yes but:

1. Not every one who would want one would know to do that.

2. Not every one who would want one would want to pay the amount MySpace would want to do it.

The key of course is getting known for it, getting ranked in the SE's for the right keywords, and having some portfolio clients to show off.

What is the deal with entrepreneur types always trying to carve markets out of everytging? Is there a niche for nose picking?

It isn't a very good idea. Thays my take. Peopel can get good layouts for free.

So is that thread a parody of this or a direct contradiction of your stated opinion? I'm confused as you seem to be all over the place. lol.

There is no deal, a question was asked and just like you we gave our opinions, but unlike you we are not negative on every single thing people say or try.

Would you get rich off it? Probably not. Could you make a living at it? Possibly.

Yes people can get good layouts for free, but can someone get a unique design just for them? One that helps to market their band/product/religon.

I know why it will fail...everyone is too damn lazy to build the layouts. All talk and no action.

I asked for a Christian layout to my specifications and I offered to PAY to get it made and no one has replied. WTF? If anyone is gonna build me a layout it should be you guys.

who is "you guys"? I'm not in the market to build personal layouts. But there are people who are, such as Selena maybe. She hasn't been on since you posted your less than friendly request so who knows, maybe she will take up your offer.

The irony is high in this guy. One of the least friendly "christians" I have seen and all while posting a request for the exact service he said there was no need for. amen.

Seems that only one or two of the members here build layouts, the rest of us just focus on our sites

I am too busy builidng my own layouts to build them for someone else at such a low cost.

You know it will be fail, and yet you disprove your own statement by wanting to purchase a custom layout....
