Hey guys,
This is a contest based on my new site http://yourgen.com. You need to create a glitter text set using our template (http://yourgen.com/designers), and then reupload it into the "Glitter" section. Make sure to hide/delete the layers that say "remove" when you do your final save (so the BG is transparent and there are no lines through it). Animation is perfectly fine, and extremely encouraged in this contest. Simply save your final template as an animated .gif. I also reccomend a white matte if necessary. You are free to upload as many entries as you would like, but try to keep them all high quality. The winner, chosen by me, will recieve $20 via PayPal. Also, please use the same username on YourGen as you do on MySpacePros to keep tracking you down simple. :) If you have any questions/concerns let me know. Finally, the contest ends August 18th at 11:59 PM EST. Good luck!
Thanks,
Jay

Also, just so you guys know, there is no need to slice your letter set once you are done, simple upload the full image. :)

So can we make a letterset with any font we like as long as the letters fit inside the guides or use the exact letters in the image?

Any font you like, just make sure the letters fit inside the guides (including effects). The ones in the image are just there to make it easier for you. :) You can easily select all of them and then just change the font and all the characters should be placed pretty much centered in the box. :) Then you can work with layer styles and copy them over or whatever method you prefer. Really excited to see what you guys come up with :)

I'd love to enter this but I'm really confused as to how to use the template....
Do we remove the whole template once we've done the letters and save it?
Or do we go to each layer individually and replace the template letter/symbols with the new style?

I think, you just use the template for size, but just enter the animated set in one image, like an uncropped letter set.

Yes, use the template for size and then add it in as an uncropped letter set. The only purpose for the template is so you know what the boundaries of each letter are. I'll upload a letter set I did to show you what your finished product may look like.

Here is a sample letter set that I did. Notice all the letters fit into the template, but I removed the template. That is all one image, and requires no chopping. There is also no need to do anything with my layers, and you can remove them at will. They are only there to guide you if you so desire.
Also, make sure your background is transparent, our system automatically crops your letters based on transparency :)

jessidel: Is it the same dimensions, if so please let me know and I'll make sure to look into this error. Sorry for any inconvenience.

It appears the image should be 684x802 pixels. If it is not, please check to see where it changed and attempt to fix that. Thanks.

Wait, so you want to use the lettersets even if we don't win? If that's the case, then sorry but i'll pass. thanks anyways.

Sorry you feel that way Precious, but yes, that is the case. I hope to have more contests in the future, hopefully with higher prizes as well. Right now I'm testing to see how they go, and I didn't have a big budget to work with.

So basically your looking for free glitter sets while picking one you like the best as the winner?
Just curious.

I'm judging by glitter sets added to the site. If you don't want to enter, don't. There is a prize for my favorite one that is added to the site. The rest will still be on the site.

That is the exact reason I didn't enter. Im not knocking you but perhaps it should have been stated that you were gonna keep the lettersets. Maybe the designers don't want to give them away "free" since that's what they are actually. Just my thoughts.

I thought that was made pretty clear when I said add them to the site. No need to argue. If you have entered and would like your entry to be removed please let me know today and I will have it removed and your entry will be withdrawn from the contest.

Sorry, but I have to agree. You should have stated from the begining that your going to be keeping them, even if they dont win. As i said, that was quite hard to make having to following a specific guideline, so if i'm not going to get anything for it, I'd like to keep them for my sites. Good luck though.

Well, assuming you didn't win, you still wouldn't have gotten anything. But this is getting rediculous, if you don't like it don't enter, please don't ruin the thread which you have already done. I tried to make everything right, and I felt I stated it clearly.

I wasn't trying to trash your thread, I was simply letting you know that I was withdrawing my entries, and that you should of made the rules a little more clear. & that's my last post in this thread, thanks.

I'm sorry I'm not a professional contest holder. If you hadn't read previously I was trying a contest seeing how it went, I kind of assumed I wasn't going to do everything perfectly. I'm sorry you feel it was misleading.

I agree with Jen and precious. You should view all the sample entries and THEN add only the winner.

Thanks for that insightful post, it added a lot to the thread. I understand you want to state your opinion but it's really not necessary.

On an added note, the free letter sets on the forum being given away are okay to enter as long as you are the creator. You just need to set them in proper format.
