Ok I am looking to get some tracking for my site done, www.myprofilepimp.net
the weird thing is I put extreme tracking on and its picking up 8 visitors so far today, this is deffiantly not the case as on adsense for one of the advertising units on the front page of my site it shows 50 clicks for today alone, this 40 clicks form the unit has been going up and down for the past 2 months. Also one of my link exchanges is picking up 70 link in's today ALONE!!!!
I find it very hard to believe that 8 visiotrs have made a total of 50 clicks, it doesnt add up.
I need something that can mesaure traffic correctly,
what should I be using?
thanks

I use performancing.com for a lot of my sites. I don't know if you can create new accounts for free anymore, but it's great until Allsite is finished.

i use mint (www.haveamint.com)
very good stat tracking in a pretty package and with lots of addons (peppers) and a large community behind it; much like it is here.

I've heard good things about mint actually. I like the interface, but for as many sites as I have the licensing would be prohibive unless they've added an unlimited license.

yeah the $30 would add up quickly.
i only have 3 licenses; for my biggest sites.
performancing is also a great one, but it updates only once an hour and the CP always has problems.
analytics is great if it doesnt slow down your site, also it only updates like 3 times a day.

Where are you putting the code ??
It should go in the header or footer because they load for each page gone to.

I use mvtracker and they are great. Costs 10 bucks a month, but it is worth it, you get perfect stats

Was mvtracker ever slow loading on your sites?

no, if you get the paid service you will never have any problems.
They also have a free version, but you can't expect perfect quality for free

i will check out statcounter now selena, thanks
extreme tracking seems to really suck for this site, yet it works great on my blog.

statcounter's free version sucks. basically you get uniques/pageloads and everything else is limited.
just use something that you will never have to worry about. Extreme tracking is ugly and google analytics updates only 3 times a day. Mint is perfect.

I recently installed Mint and it's pretty nice. I was/am still using Statcounter but it's nice to have more realistic stats.
Statcounter over counts a good amount. The two are off by 1,600 unique already today and both at set for the same time.

the great thing too is that theres probably a pepper out for any stat you can think of. i like the outclick tracker so i can see how much traffic i send to other sites. if the number is disproportionate with some sites i exchange with then i contact them and remove their link.

Same results for me with mint, only picking up 1/3 of what statcounter says. So either statcounter is way off or mint is.

Any of these remote stats systems fall foul of user configuration, javascript turned off, image blocking etc...
