Ok so I am giving some advice about this site in a thread,
then instantly I get abused by these 10 year old kids....
http://www.myspacepros.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8673&page=5
I mean you guys say this forum has all ways been cool...
I mean 1 year ago I cant even remember this kind of junk....
I am not having a wine over nothing I mean why do these kids have to act this way?
they are making this forum look like a joke...
I know Ash Bo wants to act all mature but how can she act mature when her friends all act like they are still int he 5th grade.
oh well....in a few days you wont see much of me any more...Ive tried and i think its a little too late for this place..
also a quality members like the boys at pyzam join and they have some issues with their links...what do the myspace pros memebrs do, give them abuse...

"Yeah dudes, screw em. My cousins site is just as biug, but she doiesnt screw with people around. She'll flat out tell em."
"Did the same to me. Was also sending traffic. Hes a scammer."
wow lets scare off all the huge members...what a good idea
thanks

Hey, does anyone have the theme to 'days of our lives' so we can attach it to this thread?

I don't post here that often and don't know enough about the Pyzam situation to have an educated opinion. But I would like to state that I share many of the same concerns Jamie voiced about this forum. I much preferred this forum when it's focus was running social networking resource sites.
I don't blame Greg or the admins because as Greg stated before, once you start a forum you really don't have that much control over it. Also they haven't monetized this forum at all and it's hard to blame someone who's not even taking a profit.
But I find myself checking this forum less frequently and only looking for new product for sale. It's a shame, it could be so much more.

I don't post hardly at all anymore either. I agree theres a difference in the forum from when I first joined, and I don't really like the change.
I preferred the older community a lot more, I'll admit that, and I know there are some valued young members, but there are some that stuff the forum with nonsense and even I can tell that. Some people, and there are some older memebers included in "some" as well, just don't know how to argue a point in a mature way, and you can't blame the forum as a whole for that, you can only blame those members as individuals.

i also agree that there are some people on here that make the forum hard to stick around. i first joined in feb (first account) and it was so much fun. my post count when to 1k really fast.
the mods/admins/users were as one and although there was the occasional arguement, it was between mature, more civilized people. even some of those people have gotten so fed up that they are attacking others now.
then there are some who try to have fun and get attacked any ways. you can't blame any one person. you can only represent yourself and either take the high road or contribute to the issue that has many concerned.
i was blamed for something that really really outraged me, i took the low road and kept buying in to it. i should have just completely ignored it because i knew what i was posting and what i meant. i have also posted similar "positive" more constructive comments but they went un-noticed and people just continued to point fingers and call names. its a shame. those of us that were here and know how it was, can make it how it was if we really wanted to try. ;)
or we can just wait it out and see what happens.
i'll be honest. i really miss a lot of the members that used to be on here all the time. :(

I stopped coming on the forum alot because some of the posts are just CHILDISH. And half the time I see connections, he's insulting my cousin one way or another.. It really gets to me.. Plus, the HQ stuff people sell isn't even really HQ... It looks put together in 2 mins. I RARELY buy stuff, unless I think it's worth it. It used to be, and now because of some kind of forum economic crash, things are all crappy and pennies.. Well.. Get what you pay for..

The perfect analogy for all this would that this forum is like a high-rise business building full of professionals that suddenly opened the doors and started renting office space to early teenagers trying to run their own business.
Then wondering why things got bad.
They're not too bad though. I can tolerate them myself. I just don't buy here anymore and just check in for the latest drama.

Even though I did originate from kville (:P) I agree. The only reason they join is for the freebies, and the free generators that Chris offers. Go on the thread and go near the end, and most of the people who wanted one are newbies whom originated from kville. They came, took the gens, and BAM. They're gone, or sometimes the stick around. for real. its just up to us as respected members to not buy in to the immature postings, and to try and keep things positive. as buyers, just watch your back and demand to see the full pack samples. you are the customer. you dont have to throw away your money.
none of us have to tolerate the immaturity that goes on here. but responding in an immature way only makes things worse. we can all be role models and lead by example. my two cents. that i keep saying over and over again. and again, unnoticed in other threads because everybody wants to just keep playing the blame game.
i think we look within ourselves to just be who we are, and be more mature when needed, and lighten up when needed. and maybe we can guide the rest of the "others" back to the way it was.

RKGraphics

so we should set some ground rules for conduct and have the mods ensure that these rules are enforced?
i think ground rules would be nice for places such as the marketplace.
i think as members we can contribute just by leading by example and not buying in to some of the really bad arguements going on here. i think if the finger pointing stops, or is dealt with in pm's, it will lighten things up a bit.
i know Greg doesn't like to police the forum and impose so many rules, but i do think it is needed in areas, and i think enforcing warnings on those who break the rules would be appropriate.
i think the mods need to have a clear understanding on what is expected of them and i just honestly think those of us who want to see change HAVE to contribute to that change. the mods/admins cannot do it by themselves just by deleting posts and handing out warnings.
i do think the rep system is tarded and maybe should be re-evaluated. so many things can be done. but you know, we can just be positive role models for the rest of the forum and just hope that others will follow.
RKGraphics
July 28th, 2007, 02:05 AM
i think a minimum post rule for freebies is a great idea!!

one last thought before i call it a night. i do know that Greg has mentioned several times that he spends so many hours away from his family so that they can get their social networking site up and running soon.
on top of that, he comes here to try and run the forum. everytime he is confronted with issues, he calmly posts that he is willing to help. people that busy can honestly get so side tracked that things like what has been brought up today, may completely be overlooked. he stands by his standards and i agree with him and those who have said, if you are not willing to contribute to making change and all you want to do is complain and make things worse, then why stick around.
i dont think he meant it in a harsh way to make people leave, but he's right. if you cant help out what's going on. and you can't pm him with issues and suggestions, and all you do is post thread after thread after thread just complaining, then why are you here?
so i would just say, have faith in him and Des. they have a lot on their plate. and im sure they are dealing the best that they can with all the issues on here.

Forums change, it's what happens.
I do agree that it's changed a lot but really, you can't do much about that especially seeing as this is a completely public forum.
Some of the increasingly immature posts do annoy me, but eh what are you going to do about it - ban every member that comes across as immature? Give red rep to every post you don't agree with?
People have different views, attitudes and personalities...learn to accept that.
If everyone agreed with everyone then the board would be completely biased and personally I think a wide range of opinions is better than an invalid one.
What I think would help is having a couple of moderators spread out with the timezones, that way there can always be at least one moderator on at a time to keep an eye on everything. I don't like having a completely moderated forum but when there's personal attacks being made and pointless posts ruining threads everywhere, it's probably worth it and definitely beneficial to the community.

I agree that the forum has changed quit drastically since the time I joined. I stop by couple times every week and read SO much drama. There's always something someones fighting about. It's to the point where i'm scared and worried to even post my opinion without getting chewed out. Therefore I just stick to reading, and keeping what I have to say to myself. I also agree that it's a public forum, theres not much you can do
and I have a question, how do the people at kville even find their way over here? It could be simple to get rid of the problem..whoever posts at kville, dont give them this site? Don't post the MSP links all over their forum, etc.

I havent posted in a while due to something happening offline. but before that occured, i stopped posting because it was hard for me to sell my graphics with the people from that place coming here..alot of them selling utter pish..other ripping people off.
I didnt originate from that place, but I think some of the people that have need to quit talking like losers with the kthxbai~ junk. I thought this forum had a bit of professionalism about it, which is the reason I joined.. but since then its changed.. and im not sure wether I like it =/
when ppl tlk lyk dis they let the place down. If you cant type proper english, why bother?
and as for the freebies, i think there should be a post limit put on them. like you need 50 posts in order to access that section.
and the marketplace, at first I was a bit annoyed at having to pay a poxy $5 to sell my graphics. I now realise this is a good thing, because it seperates the decent good stuff from the crap. and the crap stuff..well the seller just loses money.. but why sell crap anyway? who wants to buy it? you make yourself look stupid.
get rid of the people from that place and maybe this place will go back to being how it should be.. drama free. because as much as drama is entertaining, that place has more drama than a tv reality show..

I think judging someone by the way they type is completely off the topic of this thread and virges on pure snobbery and prejudice...Something I've noticed about you in particular, a rather "superior" attitude...
My 2 cents:
Everyone is different, everyone has a different way of thinking and a different personality. I LOVED this Forum until recently....IMHO, I believe the problems come from 3 seperate roots...
* The "Kville" issue people have already brought up. Yep, there is a slightly immature attitude in comparison so I guess that has lowered the proffessional tone of this Forum....
* The mods, I actually believe there's a few mods on this Forum that DON'T DESERVE to be mods, and it makes me wonder how they got there....
* Hipocrisy. Something I have DEFO noticed in this Community recently is the pure hipocrisy coming over people which is the reason I left another Forum. I Hate, Hate, Hateeee....When people bring up drama-starting threads over pathetic things like "OMG SHE NEVER CREDITED ME..." when you go to their site and I find they've used one of mine or my friends fills without crediting ANYWHERE rofl you know who you are...
Then they moan "You stole my layout BG" and you look at it and its THE SIMPSONS MOVIE layouts (the "designer" has just taken a PICTURE/WALLPAPER AND EDITED IT) and called it "their work" LMFAO, ok then....rofl
If you're whiter than white then go for it, moan and ***** about others infringements etc...But when we look at your site and see it's full of stolen crap you'll deny it and just bash the other person "oh, it's not the point" BS!
- Hypocrisy IN GENERAL, drama, IN GENERAL - Cause the downfall of communitys online AND offline....Why can't everyone just keep themselves to themselves stay out of others business and then when they see a problem..Deal with it IN PRIVATE and keep it IN PRIVATE....Just "if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"....
- TAKE IT TO PM/EMAIL unless absolutely neccasary...Most problems can be deal with without having to bring a whole community into it DRAGGING THE WHOLE COMMUNITY SPIRIT DOWN WITH YOU!
Thanks, oh and I can't be assed to spell check so..... :)

mmmm ok would you rather all the general chat threads take place in the business forums. the general chat forums are in a sub forum of the town hall and do not even show up on the recent threads....the ONLY way you will have to visit or see those threads is IF you are going to those sub forums so if you don't like them so much then WHY are you visiting them. If you don't like them just DONT go to those sub forums :P
You know it all apparently.
Tell me why people are complaining about the quality of this forum?
And what would you do?

I am not in charge so it does not matter what I would do. And yes most of the stuff that people have brought up concerning the mods, the way certain members are delt with I DO know the real reasons behind these things but unfortunately I can't say.
But hypothetically speaking IF I could do things my way all the people on here that like to just troll the forums looking to flame other members would be gone, banned, do not pass go do not collect $200. That is just one area I don't feel like typing everything else I would change and like I said not my forum the final decision is up to others.

my last two cents before i actually go outside and have fun.
1. it doesnt matter how the mods got there now. there's only 4 so wonder who you could be talking about....hmmm. yes, they have made mistakes. but they are trying. and im sure ALL of them including Greg, are reading all of the suggestions and its got their attention.
2. like the 10th time i've said it. its all about how you react and conduct yourself. the business should be left in the business forums, the chat and BS should be left in the chat forums. like jason said, you have to go there to view those subforums. they don't pop up on the main index page. so if you don't like it, don't go there.
3. more restrictions should be placed on newbies for SO many reason that are already listed.
4. more mods, more monitoring. and everybody just lighten up. please. life is too short to sit here and point fingers at eachother and worry about who's not getting credit for "this" or "that". the more offensive stuff, the more crucial stuff can be handled via pm. there shouldn't be any reason why anybody has to publicly come out and point fingers unless its to be a jerk. i can see, as a last resort, posting something constructively to try and get answers for an issue.

I completely agree with you, especially with this point about hypocrisy. It's funny how much hypocrisy exists in this thread alone.
Anyways I tend to come on this forum and mind my own business, but coming across this thread I don't appreciate the judgemental comments about Kville. Members who were originally from there and came to this forum represent themselves, NOT Kville, so judge them as individuals, don't judge them as a whole forum.
And MSP links aren't posted all over Kville. I've seen it mentioned maybe 2 or 3 times.

My opinion:
It's a choice between a lot of members and a lot of chit chat and childrens play, or a forum for Myspacepros with fewer members but with quality postings.

There is a minimum post for freebies. It was 15 when I first joined. Who knows what it is now.
I think one way to turn people away is, keep the 15 post minimum rule, but make a new rule that they have no red rep in the past 7 days if they're under 100 post. And make an unofficial rule that if you see someone padding their thread count, then you should give them red rep. I already do that if the post quality is piss poor.

Hell, I've posted honest, straightforward, and sensible opinions in threads where they were asked for, and been attacked by "moderators" asking me it my brain is working or if I am having a bad hair day or something. That crap is for the birds.

Proof has got to be Minnseolite . I used to listen to a lot what he said but dude has transformed "into" a kviller. I can't believe one person's posts can go from totally business to total BS about nothing and cluttering up the forums. I have seen minn go from a respected webmasters to "one of them" in a few short months, which is sad.
I still come to this forum for ONE reason - to deal with the many great businessmen and women who I do business with, however, eventually that will all be moved to IM.

I only come here to learn about Myspace Marketing and support for Greg's scripts. I don't really care about the "Town Hall" forums, though I do realize that some people might care about those forums. That is why I think it would be good for users to have an option on which Posts they want to see when clicking the "New Posts" button.

I joined here to do business, and make some new friends. This used to be my daily hangout and I spent entirely too much time reading the drama, etc. This place has changed alot, but sadly we can't control it. If, from the beginning, it was just "invites", alot of the good members wouldn't be here. um go and look how that ashbo thing even started,
It started because the original poster stated how the posters sites suck, and how her cousin was going to destroy them.
I stated her cousin gets a lot of direct traffic the truth, I wa snot trying to be rude at all but people took it the wrong way for some reason and totally went over board.
Then the insults started flying in from all directions, people saying her sites a million times better then any one else in this niche, wow thats not pissed me off.
I don't have time for this myeeos thing any more what are you on about "piss certain people off."
I think alot of mods on here act in very un professional fashion.
I think a lot of people need to wake up their is problems with this forum and its quite obvious, I am trying to help out before its too late, before this place turns into the new kville/SNF which is a possibility.
I am not trying to make a divide in this forum, I am not trying to become a moderator I am trying to help this forum out to get it back to the once respectable place it was, I was just point out some advice you don't have to get all defensive and start telling me to move to a different forum.
I was merely only trying to give some advice to whatever life but they quite obviously don't want to listen, thats cool I just didn't want to cop a mouth full.
like I said i might make a few posts here every ones in a while...
Also I think I need to say sorry to people, I have received a few pms form people who started these little fights and yeah I do think they were a bit childish but I do think their are problems with this forum and I was only trying to help and people like you PGZ dont seem to want to listen.

There are two areas to MySpacePros .... the business arena and the general discussion or play arena.
Granted it did start out as an all business forum, but due to pressure from you the members, more forums were added where people could socialise and play around a bit. All work and no play was making MySpacePros a pretty staid place.
As MySpacePros became even more popular more members arrived, most came to do business but also participated in the general discussion Forums. More people arrived and found that they had something in common with the business people already here ... the common ground of course was Myspace. A lot in this last group don't do any business at all but do like to talk about what they have in common with the other members, Myspace etc. Of course as people got to know each other they started to discuss other things ..... all very natural as the growth kicks in.
Because of the diverse nature and age of the members fires are going to get started, you won't find a Forum as large as MySpacePros where there aren't fires.
I don't think MySpacePros has changed for the worse at all, I don't frequent the areas where the majority of the problems arise, like the town hall so from the point of what I am seeing it's all been pretty good.
I know some of the other Mods spend a lot of time in the areas I don't so I figure there is no need for me to go poking around (by the way there are 6 Mods, not 4 as someone mentioned earlier).
It's not an easy job being a Mod on any Forum, I currently own 5 Forums so I know a bit about running them and the issues that arise.
The Mods are the first to cop the abuse if they don't act, first to cop abuse if they do act, they spend a lot of time on the Forum when they could be doing something to benefit themselves elsewhere. There is no pay, perks or privileges involved .... they do it because they are trying to make a place they love to hangout at a better place for everyone, I'm asking for you to give them a break .... theres no need to start abusing them.
Every Forum has it's ups and downs, fires get started, get put out but mostly just die a natural death.
Sure some members like to play games and cause trouble, they start arguments for little or no reason, there are others who jump on the bandwagon every time ... I don't need to name them, just look at the threads where there are issues, 90% of the time you will see the same names popping up, you all know who they are.
I could ban these people but that won't accomplish much, we are here to try and monitor the Forum, we are not the internet Police, banning is a last resort but that said there are four people very very close to stretching my patience at the moment.
I'm just asking you to think to think it through before you push the reply button, don't make stupid comments in someones sales thread .... is it worth bringing this up .... is it worth replying to this person because I know they are not going to take any notice .... I just want you to think about what you are about to say, after all it's your Forum and your the one who can make it or break it with what you say.
Thanks for reading this and understanding .....
Cyclops.

But that's not going to happen, the number of postings and the number of members is more important then a quality forum.
What kind of wrong members would that be, just cause people like to have fun and relax a little does not make them bad members. People came to love msp because of the fact that we could conduct business here and kick back. The only issue I see is that alot of the bs posts and threads have started to spill out into other parts or that people spend to much time in the Town Hall forums because of the fact that those posts continually show up in the new threads at the top and attract attention.
IMO if you remove the Town Hall threads from showing up all together in the new posts then people will spend less time there and more time conducting business and making more quality posts.....just my 1 1/2 cents :P

I like the rep feautre, but it does get abused and therefore pisses everyone off. But what people need to understand, is that it DOESNT determine whether you're a bad person etc.. It just determines whether you're an asshole or not.

Could not have said it better. People should take into account that us Mods/Admin give up hours and hours a day to come here and try to make MyspacePros enjoyable for all its members but when a forum gets to reach a certain size there is no way to keep everyone happy all the time. We spend alot of time behind the scenes discussing member concerns and ways to find a middle ground that a majority of the members can be happy with sometimes we hit the mark and sometimes we miss completely.
