A friend of mine got a notice some hours ago to remove some images from his site .. i have looked at the images and they do not have any name etc on them , and also these same images can be found on hundreds of other myspace resource sites ..
The person told him if he doesnt remove them , he will report him to Adsense filling a DMCA complaint ..
Seeing this i am also worried since none of the Glitters found on my site are
mine . They are mainly from piczo.

Easy solution, get some custom made glitters with your name on them. Selena (http://www.myspacepros.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=499) a member on this board does some great ones at good prices.

Yep, if the person requesting them removed is the copyright holder, it's best to just take them off. Not worth it to keep them. Sure, there may be tons of sites using the same content but if the copyright owner found them on your site and asked to have it removed in a friendly manner you (your friend) is lucky they didn't just take action without contacting them.
And yep, having custom content makes it easy to avoid that problem. But then of course you have to watch for and request people to take down your copyrighted content once people start to steal it lol.

Quite true, but if you neatly plaster your site name on the items, you can still gain a certain amount from the thefts!

The irony..
Anyway, if you get an email, just remove the pictures and send an Email saying your sorry. Not much else you can do.

I have to say i already knew that would happen sooner or later. But i'm a member of a forum where the people who own most of the sites where alot of the glitters that come with myspace scripts are collected from, and they get really angry when they see their stuff plastered over the net like it didnt take them tons of time to make it.
It pisses them off because they make little or no money from their sites and they made the content, whereas a site who just took the content can make hundreds per month from content they didnt even make.
Thats why i do provide my glitter-making services because i know how hard it is on this end, and how hard it is on that end.
I'm not trying to push my services, or anything like that, but i suggest that if you are pretty damn sure that the creator of the script didn't make the glitters on it, you should probably remove them. I know some of the owners of them have taken measures to have their stuff legally copyrighted, and some already have them copyrighted. And most piczo sites DONT make their content either, and its taken from sites like angelkizz.net and cute-spot.com and just tons of sites like that that i could name.

Selena you need to calm it down a bit. Also your inflexibility may hinder your ability to do business. You insit people pay $5 per glitter and then you go on a long rant here regarding lifted glitter graphics. I do agree with you, but I DONT think it is worth getting that upset about. You see...that just my take on it.
I suggest you try not get too worked up abou this. You say you are 15 so why not put more focus and attention into schoolwork and your family? Creating glitter and myspace sites should be a side hobby; somethign you do for fun and certainly not worth getting agitated about.
Best luck.

She's 15 and from what I've heard, is making a killing ($$$) from doing it. Just because she's young, it doesn't mean she's not allowed to have an opinion about something (hell, I'm 16). I'm sure she puts a lot of effort into her school work and cares about her family. The only reason I spend the majority of my time on the web is because I know this is where my career is heading. I'm sure this is the case for Selena also.
She does have a point... if I was talented enough to make a bunch of graphics, I'd be pretty angry if a bunch of people stole my work too.

I don't condone the duplication and listings of glitter graphics but IF someone does lift your glitter graphic I woudn't get worked too worked up about it. Thats my opinion though. I care about copyrights, but the bigger picture is even more important to me.
I don't think she makes a killing. NO one who makes a killing nitpickes over prices for small orders. I remember selling on Ebay a couple years ago and back then I was making a 50-100 bucks a week selling cards and crap. I would nitpick over the bids being too low. I wanted to squeeze a few extras dollar out by adding more bells and whistles to my ebay page. Waste of time when I look back.
Now fast forward two years later. I have my own automated Myspace system and I make a solid $xxx a day doing pretty much nothing. I don't nitpick cause I earn too much to care about a few dollars.

Ted hat i think its you who actually needs to calm down. I am not all up piczo sites asses, and all over everyone for a stolen graphic. I was simply expressing the views of many MANY other site owners out there who have their **** stolen everyday.
I have never had my stuff stolen but those who have their stuff taken and seen plastered on the internet have gotten fed up and copyrighted their things, so i was simply warning those who use scripts with stolen graphics of the circumstances.
And I'm pretty sure your the one who bought graphics from me a little bit back, and if your mad because i didnt agree about the wholesale thing, well i'm sorry.
I'm considering lowering my prices, but its my choice, and those who can afford it are happy to pay those prices for high quality graphics.
Oh yes and I do pay attention to my family and school. I happen to take care of my mom everyday who has breast cancer and as well maintain a 4.2 GPA with honors. So don't go attacking my age.

If some one sends you a email asking to take down stuff just DO IT,
why would you even risk your whole site getting deleted over a few images, its just stupid lol.
In the past ive purchased images off people and I dont know for sure if they hold 100% copyright to them. But its part of the internet people lie all over the internet just look at the types that lurk on SNF need I say more, in the end of the day you cant really tust what any one has to say.
good luck with it.

Selena has had to deal with much more than most kids have had to within their lives She seems to me to be very mature for her age and has a good head on her shoulders.
I dont know what you saw in her post that made you think she was worked up because I didnt see that at all.
Are we reading 2 different threads here or something ??
Selenas age is irrelevant here as it has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

At her age i was spending dads money like crazy and there were no issues to deal with.
what ever she is doing at here is simply remarkable.
Actually doing so much at such a small age make me look up to her work and her posts here on the forum.
keep up the good work selena !!!!!!

Lifting/copying images can be a serious offence, and a webmaster could be sued. There are a few artist associations too. So it is better to be sure about what you use.

Selena, your only 15..wow..I think that is awesome...Not too many 15 years olds handle themselves like you do...you go girlie...I have been tagging for a fews now..and it seems like everyone is cracking down on the whole copyright issues. I have had alot of tags stolen from me..makes me mad..but really hard to stop them from ripping you.

all i can say is that i'm an artist who has to deal with art theft all the time.
and it sucks...
It's kind of flattering when someone wants to use your artwork but it down right WRONG that people give themselves the right to own your artwork and sell something online without the creator/artist's permission.
