I have come to realize that there are still a few people that "WANT" to do the right thing and only use licensed images on thier sites, but dont understand where you can purchase or get such images. So, I thought I would take a little bit of time (I'm Bored) to share some sites and information with you.
1.) Artist Tube Licensing Sites: There are sites whereas artist sell thier graphics for use on Myspace Resource Sites. These images are called tubes because the backgrounds have been removed so that you can create unique image tags with these. Some of the more popular sites to purchase images such as this are are as follows.
CILM: http://www.creativeimagelicensing.com
MyPSPTubes: http://mypsptubes.com
Outlaw Designs: http://www.outlawbydesign.com (commercial use allowed)
Erotic Artist: http://eroticartistgallery.com/TubesMain.htm
Artistic Minds: http://artisticmindsinc.com/index.html
PRICING:
At CILM most tubes are sold in packages. Average cost is $18.00 for 12 images. At MyPSPTubes they are sold individualy for as much as $2.00 a piece.
Outlaw Designs has cheap memberships or CD's that can be purchased
Erotic Artist has package, singles, small packages, etc. Great reasonable prices
* For Clipart see the topic here on MSP that has a million links it with sites that sale clipart for use in your images. =)
2.) FREE to Use Images: These are artist that offer thier art on thier sites for free, and you are allowed to use these to create Image Tags. They always require however that you place a copyright on the image. Not a big deal for free if you ask me. My favorite by far is Popeye Wong, but there are litterally tons of others.
Popeye Wong: http://www.popeyewong.com/eng/toons.htm
Les Toil: http://www.toilgirls.com/
Outlaw Designs: http://www.outlawbydesign.com (some free usage images)
PRICING:
Best of all - These are FREE!
There are tons of other images that have a FREE TO USE licensing. In almost every one of these cases a simple copyright url is required on the image, giving the artist credit.
IN CLOSING:
The problem is sometimes, people dont know what to search for to find these. "TUBES" and "Poser Tubes" are hot words to search for. There are also "Holiday Tubes" galore.
At times I have been known to use tubes that I have found for Walt Disney, Pecious Moments, Betty Boop, And many more. In most cases, you can save yourself a LOT of heartache and trouble by just placing a simple copyright for them on the image. EXAMPLE: <insert copyright symbol here> Walt Disney. There is however a lot of different opinions on using these, so I will leave this to your own descresion (sp?).
So really, you have no excuse to be using unlicensed images, getting into trouble, or being asked to remove images. And even more importantly, you dont have to steal others images. Make your own. Or purchase tubes and get a friend to make image tags with them for you.
I dunno, hope you enjoy the information.
Addition URL sharing would be great!

Just to let anyone know who is interested. Most of the above Artist Tube Licensing Sites where you can buy the rights to use their images DO NOT allow you to tag the images with your domain (you can tag them "tagged by joe", but not "tagged by mysite.com" or "mysite.com"), and they do not allow you to resell the images (such as make a pack and sell on msp). Just a heads up for anyone interested in using them.

Do you have anything for actual photographs like celeb licensed images etc?
dumb-diddy-doo
July 26th, 2007, 01:39 AM
Good luck with that one since models, especial celebs get paid big bucks for thier images. Like you, I have a great desire for these. I have seen celeb tubes available out there, but I dont believe that all because the person tubed it (removing the background) makes it okay for them to be used. Which is why I haven't thus far.
But I did have a good suggestions come my way by a friend. Not celebs, but photographs of hot models. Think about all of the "wantabe models" on myspace. They would probably LOVE for you to use thier images in exchange for thier portfolio url on the images and you as the site hosting / creating the tag. Not a bad idea if you ask me. Its a thought. Thats if you are interested in the hot babes.
But for hot girls, I am very partial to Kieth Garvey's girls Dang they are so so hot hot and so realist. Garv Girls are my Fave! His images are on MyPSPTubes.com

I always found stock image sites very useful. Its usually in credits or like $1 per image but you get rights to it within reason. For example you can use them on layouts and such just not for resale like selling a million mugs with their image. Thought I'd let ya know.

Yeah Kyle very few artist give you reseller rights. There a select few that do, but finding them is always tough. I have found a few, but none that I would write home about it.
Thanks Tina, I love Garv Girls!

What is a tube?
dumb-diddy-doo
July 29th, 2007, 12:57 AM
I explained that above. =)
A tube is an image without a background / transparent.
Ready for using to create new images with.
A PSD or PSP file format.
There are people on the web that specialize in tubing images that have backgrounds. EXAMPLE: There is a nice selection of Betty Boop Tubes available. I happen to know that all of these at one time had backgrounds. <--- is Betty Boop fan.

yeah. i asked the same question when i first heard of tubes/tubing

Yeah I never knew what it was until I started using them. CILM has a staff of tubers that work with the artist directly to prepare the images for sale. Sounds like an extremely boring job to me.

I was told that you cannot sell them, however you can accept "donations" for them. Does anyone know if this is true? (this obviously only applies to certain sites, etc)

Here is links to topics covering the entire TOS. This is for CILM, but note that MyPSPTubes has a site simular to this answering the same types of questions. And I have always found the answers are pretty standard across all of them.
Selling Your Creations? No CILM Artist/Photographer image, composition or product may be sold, bartered or used for profit or “break even” endeavors in any way OR used in association with any site "requiring" membership fees to join.
http://www.cilmforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=213
Can other make tags for me? NO
http://www.cilmforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=221
Share or Trade CILM Tubes? NO
http://www.cilmforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=220
Monetary Compensation for CILM Images/Tubes? NO
http://www.cilmforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=219
Donation Buttons?
http://www.cilmforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=214
For PSP and graphic hobbyists:
http://www.cilmforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=407
The work you are using to create tags is being used for imaginative unpublished works. More than 50% of the work is being used in your creations AND free usage takes away from royalties and permissions in an ESTABLISHED permissions/ royalties market. Even before licensing of artwork came into being this market (PSP / graphic hobbyists) had already established itself as a "Permission" based market.
Just in case you need further assistance in understanding this concept:
EXAMPLE: I DO NOT have the right to purchase a book from Olivia then turn around and reproduce that book and give it to all of my friends. That would be THEFT because Olivia is CLEARLY selling her books, she CLEARLY deserves payment for her creations and she is CLEARLY selling something in an established market.
CILM is asking all license holders to join forces. It is time to make it absolutely clear that ANYONE sharing tubes or images that are CLEARLY being sold by ANY LICENSING COMPANY and or INDIVIDUAL ARTIST is STEALING THEM!

Well in reality the only one you were concerned with most was this one.
And the short simple answer to your question is "NO". =|

Your original question was "can you accept donations"
The simple answer to this is no you can't.
Unless you want to try and comply under this rule which allows donation buttons. But in reality, you would never get approved for this.
Donation Buttons?

The artist and cilm really dont care much for people who make images for sites such as ours. Mostly because they would prefer to consider us commercial business's whereas we are sharing thier works with others. blah blah blah. But in reality, if it were not for us buying thier tubes, they would be making half of what they are making because end users is a small amount of thier buyers.

Yes you can :) It's easier if they are not behind a password gate as wel that way you wouldn't need to contact them to give them access :)
CILM WILL ALLOW your group or website to have a Donation Button AS LONG AS THE FOLLOW CONDITIONS ARE MET:
(a) A Donation may NOT be a "requirement" to join your group or access your site.
(b) No other digital image licensing company affiliate programs may be used in a group or on a site that has a donation button and is
using CILM artwork.
(c) A CILM staff member must be allowed to join the group or access the website at all times. If your group is going to have a donation
button you MUST notify our Copyright Department at copyright_dept@creativeimagelicensing.com so that one of our staff members
may join your group.
(d) The Terms of Use must be clearly posted for your group members and strictly adhered to at all times. Failure to comply with any of
the Standard TOU’s, Artists Amendments or conditions set forth above will result in a request to remove the donation button from
your group or site.

Yes! Kudos, to you!
I hate copyright infringement and avoid it at all costs - even with fonts.
It pisses me off when people sell me graphics packs that I later find breach copyright laws. :( Makes me a sad panda.
