I've been pulling my hair about which arcade script to buy
there are SOOOO many of them out there. I am trying to get the one that has the best adsense CTR/CPM results. I wish Greg's script would be ready but I need one right away.
Any feedback from current arcade site owners would be appreciated or anybody that would just know

I think if you want the best CTR off any thing you need ot make something custom yourself to suite the needs of your visitors and blend the ads in.
But I must add greg j does seem to make some hot scripts that blend ads in very well...
Are you still interested in my marketing deals? drop me a pm whne you want to get started, thanks

are you putting one up just to put up? Would you eventually switch whatever it is out with smashscript once it is released? If so, I get a cheaper script that can be moved to a different domain if you want and then use that script to build up traffic, links, pr and such. Then when smashscript comes out, and if you like it, you could just drop it on the established domain and get a running start. Greg mentioned he would have db converters, though not sure which will be supported.
At least that is my plan. I'm trying to populate a couple domains that I plan to just eventualy drop smashscript in when released. I can't really afford to buy currently established game sites already with traffic and such to do it with so I have to start from scratch. Figure it is still worth the time though.
As for best current scripts...no idea. I haven't even really started messing with them yet. The one that at least looks like it would be great is flashgamescript. Kind of expensive compared to a few of the others though and may not be good for the "build and switch" technique. But after glancing at the other top scripts, it looks pretty nice.

well it depends on the success of the site you know?
it's funny that you mention flashgamescript as it impressed me the most out of all the others as well but then I have no idea how good the CTR/CPM is with their script.
PM me more info about the sites

lol, I have no info. Just been doing my own research but haven't really had any experience with any of them yet. I have a gamescript license that I need to get up but have heard that it is a resource hog. I also have a site with getmyownarcade but not sure how much I like it yet...mostly bought it for the domain.
Here is a list I found somewhere while doing my own searches (in no particular order)
*prices may not be current*
# phpArcadeScript - $30+
# GameSiteScript - $95+ (definitely don't buy, dead support and missing admin)
# ShockScript - $97+
# GameScript - $89.99+
# PlayCMS - $20
# Arcade-Script - $24/Free with hosting purchase
# PHP Arcade.net - $20 & $45
# ArcadeCMS - $20
# OnArcade - $39
# FlashGameScript - $60+
# GetMyOwnArcade - $40+
# GamerFX: Arcade Script CMS - $24
# GamerFX: House Arcade Script - $35

Yeah... maybe my grandchildren will be able to buy itlol, well there are people whining for updates on FS and MSRS and people that want new scripts too. Can't have it both ways with a small startup with limited resources ;).
I can't wait for smashscript but I am willing to wait to give Greg and the guys a break and to get caught up and such. Plus it gives you time to build up some domains to to use ;).

Game sites scare me the same as video sites. Huge bandwidth suckers and getting an actual profit from them is too dificult.
And then all the decent CPM networks are sick of game sites and won;t let any more in, so that is a source of revenue you can't count on.

Yeah, i've read that they are similar to myspace sites in a lot of ways. Only problem is they aren't as viral as there isn't as much that can get posted elsewhere. But they are a bit more "sticky" if you have some good games. lol, I'm embarrased to think how many hours in the last week I wasted PLAYING the games on sites while trying to do research on script lol.
Hate to keep promoting flashgamescript (maybe I should sign up for their affiliate program for now lol), but it looks like they are really working the ads in nicely. Like when you go to play a game, there is a slight delay "while the game loads" which your ads are displayed. They also seem pretty well integrated. I've seen gamescript sites that have adsense surounding the game which was kind of cool but would probably be something you could do with any script.
But it comes back to possibly lower cpm, if it is true. But I've seen some game sites making a LOT of money even if ads are lower now.

hmm I could imagine how the top-tier networks are sick of arcade sites, but there are soooo man networks out there nowadays that some would still accept them I am sure.
I liked that idea with flashgamescript as well of how it shows the ad before being able to play the game =) that should be a nice converter

sci,
since you already typed out so much why not make a guide for the n00bz. im sure if you do it the mods will sticky it.

lol, yeah I guess a mod could sticky it heheh.
But I am one of those n00bz lol. I've only started researching them for my own use. I haven't actually really used any of them yet even though I have a few licenses to get up. So my info wouldn't be very useful as of now. Besides the links to the various scripts available.
But as I mentioned before, my main purpose personally is to just get some game site up, hopefully cheaply, get some good traffic and stats on the domain and then drop in a copy of smashscript when it's available ;). So my goals (cheap but usable) may be different than most people. Though if one of those scripts actually does well, I may have to hang on to it and get a new domain for my smashscript lol.

I was just looking at FlashGameScript. Script only is $60.00. Package prices range from $69 to $599.
140 games up to 2100 games. Other features with different packages include more movies, monthly additional movies, and copyright removal.
I'm guessing the games and movies for inclusion can be found much cheaper elsewhere?

There are lots of game and movie pacsk on dp. Not sure what all is required for importing with that script though.

I installed FlashGameScript a couple days ago. Haven't had much time to mess with it, but the mangled english throughout the code is worth the price of admission! :)
Confirmation emails subject is "registerings link"
following the confirmation link you get the flendly massage:
Account active successfully. You many now allow to login
Of course I'm sure they are nice hard working people. English run through foreign syntax just gives me a tickle sometime.
I installed the trial gamepack no problem. And I picked up a few thousand games in gamescripts database format. Now I just need to poke around and see if I can adapt the GS sql files to match FGS sql. I'm not that experienced with mysql but I figure if I backup first it won't hurt to screw around with it. I plan on opening another database, uploading the GS sql files, compare the 2, smack them around till they cooperate. Chances are I'll learn something in the process.
Oh and per the topic...the ad integration is pretty spiffy out of the box.

I'm not going to disclose details as the admins from gamescript.net seem to like to steal my IP. But rest assured, SmashScript will be the end all video script.
That is, when Frymans grandchildren are old enough to purchase it ;)

I just wish Adsense would make up their minds. You put out a perfect script, and then they make you mess it up because they can't decide what is right and what not.

That is, when Frymans grandchildren are old enough to purchase it ;)You meant "end all GAME script" right? ;). We already have an end all video script. Though it would be cool to have some video options on the gamescript since that seems to be standard now.
I really can't wait until smashscript comes out though. Of all these others the only one that looks appealing out of the box is the flashgamescript and who knows, it may suck too (like maybe using too many resources or something). Jazzylee77, be sure to give us your impression once you get up and running and how well the ad implentation actually works. ;).

I was revisiting this thread since somone at my newby webmaster forum was asking about getmyownarcade . I didn't have much problem installing flashgamescript. But it eventually got hacked...I missed the email warning to upgrade by a few days. So they did at least catch it and warn. but the hack wiped out all the files.
The flashgamescript documentation requires the talent of a psychic, but its not that hard to poke around and figure out. Since I hadn't promoted it I didn't bother with a reinstall. I just put a game affiliate landing page on it still waiting to see if Gregs script comes along.
looking at getmyownarcade, You could drop games into folders in bulk? Thats what is being suggested by the poster at my sleepy little forum www.knewbees.com

I get the impression it has been sidelined, maybe flickscriptz or msrs2 will have game features? Idle speculation on my part though.
