View Full Version : Lack of consistency with thumbnails!

The lack of consistency when purchasing layouts is driving me nuts! I've bought a lot of layouts lately and the so called 'thumbs' are nothing more than a duplicate of their bg.jpg (and with some of these the thumb is bigger than the background itself!) That is NOT a thumbnail. A thumbnail should be a screenshot of the layout on a myspace page. Can we please get some consistency!

Thanks, just wanted to vent :)

If anyone does thumbnailing, could you please PM me and let me know what it'll cost. Thanks :)

i have noticed this as well some of the thumbs are 250x250 some are 400x300 and some are even 600x400...wtf.

I think the designers should gather and decide what size to make their thumbs when doing layouts. Personally I like 350x300 thumbs

I like thumbs to be a consistent width of 300px...

I would prefer the thumb size to be large, as I can always run a single command on the server to make them smaller while maintaining a nice quality. If the thumbs start off small, resizing and stretching them to a larger quality makes it look like crap.

My problem is people simply copy their bg.jpg and call it a preview. Especially after they show a thread with real thumbnails, then you get the pack and it doesn't have real thumbnails.

For those of you that want your thumbs a particular size, if you have imagemagick on your server I can show you how to resize them all with a single command.

There's no way you can standardize it as different people use different styles on their sites.

i just saw this. i bought a pack where the thumbs take up the full screen. AND, can i add that a lot of my css files have links to other sites, now i have 700+ css files to go and remove their links. where it says "i created my profile at...." it auto ads the correct url but has 5+ of their own links in there.

i would contact the seller, but i already renamed everything so i dont know who its from :(

consistency from sellers with layouts is a huge thing.

yeah, i agree when you purchase a pack of layouts i don't think you should have to go back and edit out all the sellers link back codes. thats just nonsense
