So, I turned my DAD'S PC on this morning and guess what message I get :(
Windows cannot start bla bla...file missing or corrupt
windows/system32/config/system
Somethin like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL, I HAVEN'T TOUCHED THE PC IN LIKE FOREVER.
Well, months. but my bro was on it last night so it musta been somethin HE done. however, I just KNOW I'm gonna be the one that gets the blame!
I googled the error message and apparently it's not too hard to fix you gotta put the windows XP CD in and do the repair.
PROBLEM BEING - WE DON'T HAVE THE CD!
They never gave us one with the PC = just product recovery/system recovery which doesn't do the same job.
So, I'm dead, cuz I get blamed for everything.
The PC is dead, and we dont have the CD to repair it...ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Years of fonts and brushes..gone...I feel like I've lost a family member :(

you should have kept backups of your fonts, brushes and important files. then you could just do the repair/reinstall CD and then add everything back from your backup CD/DVDs

Check your recovery disk and see if you can access your windows files from there.

Go into the startup options when you are booting up the computer and select the option for "Last known Configuration"-Usually works for Windows XP.

If that does not work...find a friend that has a Non OEM version(Otherward the software did not come with their computer) of windows xp and borrow the disk from them.
