View Full Version : "the Fire Sale" ....

This is a one off sale, it won't be repeated.
As the Forum description says, this is a Forum to display your products for sale at a discount to the regular price.
The normal $5 charge will be waived for this thread but you must offer a 50% discount to your regular price in order to be elegible.
Think about it, the bigger the discount the more sales you will make.
To assist this and to bring more buyers to the forum we will be doing a mailout to all members advising them of this sale.
We will also be posting on other Forums about this sale.
A sale like this will bring back a lot of old and new buyers to the Forum.
As the week progresses I expect a flurry of buyers on the last day or two who won't want to miss out on the bargains on offer.
Please make sure that any content you sell is already completed, we don't want any hassles, anyone who disregards this will have there sales thread removed.
So get to it you Designers, bring out all you have, old and new, some large packs would be excellent, and make enough money to spend the summer on the beach  .
The ones who put their products up first will receive the Lions share of the business so act fast, don't let someone else steal your customers.
The sale starts when this thread starts which according to my timezone is 2nd July and finishes at midnight California time on the 9th July.
Update:
A question regarding whether it is 1 raffle ticket per person or 1 raffle ticket per purchase or sale came up. I think it is far to give 1 ticket per transaction, so transact away :P

I hope the good designers and not the "fake HQ" designers actually post stuff for sale.... That crap is the reason I stopped buying here (besides the fact that no designers tag anymore). I used to spend close to $1k per month here.
But then again, the good designers don't need fire sales I guess...

It's not so much we spoke to only the good ones first that we spoke to the ones who have been around long enough to remember. I know there are a lot of fairly new designers that do great work that I just haven't been able to get to know yet with my workload. So if you weren't contacted before this, don't take offense. It's a mad house around here.

So unfortunately, does this thread prohibit us from selling new items? I'd assume it would since theres no way to know whether its actually 50% off or not, unless we'd just price them 50% off of what we normally would? Could anyone clarify this for me :)

That's correct... So if you normally sell 10 layouts for $10, I'd expect 10 layouts to actually be sold at $5. Does that make sense? :)

You can sell new items as Cyclops has stated in the OP if they are ready to go. We would like all packs to be finished so the buyers don't have to wait this includes group buys. Just be honest if you put a new item in the fire sale for $20 we don't want to see it listed in the Marketplace for $20 :whackit:

We would like it if you tried to keep everything in one thread so that it does not become over crowded. But if you have that much content and need a second thread I don't see the harm in two threads

I think it's appropriate to have separate threads for separate types of content. Put your glitters in one thread, your layouts in another, link sales in one, etc. etc.

So do we get one entry into the MSRS/MSLS raffle for each purchase we make in the fire sale?
For the Buyers:
Every site owner that purchases something during the Fire Sale will be entered into a drawing. At the end of the Fire Sale we will pull one name for each of the 7 days of the Fire Sale and give that person the choice of a copy of MSRS or msls.
That's quoted from Greg's PM.
For every purchase you make, you get 1 raffle ticket. (Posted in the OP of this thread)

are the marketplace rules still in place here? if they are then someone has been posting on alot of threads with 'nice glitters' or 'cheap price' and its sort of annoying to some people because they'll log on, see their thread and think theyve generated a sale. I know I'd be pretty pissed if it was my thread.

it really sucks the "fire sale" has to go... from the sounds of it, it seems like all the designers etc are making far more off this sale than they made on their original sale thread or am I wrong?
I know prices have been driven down but there are a lot more people that are willing to pay for things if it's cheap. I know during the regular sales threads I go through and analyze things and if it's not exactly what I'm looking for I don't buy it.... whereas with the firesale I just say 'ILL TAKE IT'
Was it as good as it seems for designers? aka are we gonna continue to see some packs being offered cheaper if this brought more buyers? :)

That's exactly why sales like this are good, and tend to make sellers a whole lot of money. The problem is that, if you wait too long, all that's going to happen is that you drive down the price of these goods permanently, even though the buying craze has ended, resulting in smaller gains for sellers.
Was it as good as it seems for designers? aka are we gonna continue to see some packs being offered cheaper if this brought more buyers? :)
I'm not a designer, but I wouldn't be surprised if prices were a little lower at least for a small while. But don't expect such monster deals in the future.
