View Full Version : Hostee!

I've got a few hostees and most of them are GREAT! They leave me the hell alone, don't cause any problems with other site owners...they just get on with it. Awesome!

Then there's this one hostee...
I've had three people contact me in the last four months, complaining of something this hostee has done.

This hostee has stolen a script, tried to get some people on a coding forum to recode a php script for them so they could distribute it as theirs, when the owner of the script that was stolen contacted the hostee through the comments on their blog, the hostee edited the comment (which is a big no-no for bloggers).
This hostee has also started *****ing about another site owner (all because the site owner didn't feel the need to put 'this is my opinion' on their article and didn't have completely awesome grammar or something). The site owner contacted me and they're pretty offended (and I can't blame them).

A while ago, I got an offline YIM message from this hostee, saying: "We need to talk about my site. It doesn't show in IE or AOL".
Okay, wtf am I supposed to do about YOUR site not displaying in certain (crappy) browsers?

I had a problem with my site displaying in IE (it was because of WordPress :|) and when I thought I had the problem fixed, I made a topic about it on another forum, asking for IE users to just mess around on my site and see if they get anymore "page cannot be found" errors. (The problem was fixed!) The hostee basically hijacked my thread because of some problem or another on their site.

This hostee, despite being hosted for free, has so much bloody advertising on their site, it's sickening.
I have no problem with a couple of Adsense blocks but when you've got enough ads on one page to fill my entire screen (1280x768) and paid advertising AND a 'buy a layout' section, it's taking the piss. ¬_¬

This hostee has got to go. They're taking advantage, they're causing problems, they're making me look bad and like I tolerate that sort of crap. :censored:

Wow! I agree they have to go. I have had a couple of hostees that gave my domain a bad name :'( and i gave them several warnings before hand. He took my kindness for weekness so i finaly got fed up with his crap and backed up all his crap and deleted him. The next day he came to saying he's sorry etc.... But if i was you ill give the person a warning or to if the dont complie delete them :)

I know who you are talking about ;)
He asked me if I wanted to exchange links, but when I went to his site, I could barely see it through the ads.
He claims "Be advertised & Receive 1500+ uniques per day!" I thought, great, I will check this out and when I go to the advertising page, his tracker shows he gets no more than 200 UV a day, so I don't know how the hell he would have given me over a thousand.

I refuse to host people now, seeing as in the past I have had people cramming their sites with ads (I'm fine with making money on your site, but then they can go buy their own hosting) and then I had one person (actually they are a member here) who changed host without even telling me, which I thought was really rude. She left all her files on the server and I didn't get any emails saying I could close her account...etc.

Oh I'm pretty sure I know EXACTLY who you are talking about. Drop them. When one of my friends hosted them a while back, she had server problems and all his ads were putting viruses on the actual server or something - like something to do with a mixture of a bad ads program and crappy php coding.

If they're holding you down and you're hosting them for FREE, you shouldn't feel obligated to keep them on board at all.

Erin and Jordan, you really do know who I'm talking about. ;)

I've just sent them an email to tell them they have a maximum of two weeks to get their stuff and get off my reseller. In two weeks time, their account will be removed.

Yes jordan- our best buddy.

Carlee- your paying, your choice. If the person (who shall not be named yet we know who they is) is causing issues, get rid of them.

I KNEW that the script was from that forum (which shall also not be named ay? lol) I just wasn't sure if the person seeked permission - obviously not.
