I use the "Akismet" [sp?] on my wordpress and I don't get any spam? Have you tried that plugin? It comes with WordPress. PM me if you need help with it :P

akismet worked pretty well for me. It's already installed you just need your API key from wordpress.com.

Yep, exactly :) If that doesn't help, just try googling a term like "wordpress+spam" or something. idk :P

Akismet is there in your plugins. Works fine.

Go to wordpress.com and login [if you use your wordpress directly off their site] and somewhere in there should be something that says "API Key" and then some numbers and letters. That's your API key. Then go to your Wordpress admin panel and look in "plugins" and "Akismet" should be in there, install it and enter your API key. It should work :P

I believe your API key is emailed to you when you register on wordpress.com. Then you just enter it in your dashboard like Dale said. Pretty simple.

On my blog I used to get absolutely enormous amounts of spam. The only plugin that stopped it was Spam Karma. http://unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-karma/ is the link to the download page. It's relatively easy to install and works wonders - Akismet only blocked a portion of the spam by itself so I recommend you run both of the plugins in unison.

I've heard good things about Bad Behavior (http://www.bad-behavior.ioerror.us/).

I saved some of the spam comments and looked through them for patterns in the text; a lot of them had phrases like "hot teen sex", "replica watches" and "body{display:none}" - all of them were phrases that wouldn't appear in my comments under normal circumstances, so I blacklisted them. (Which brought me from 140+ spam comments a day, to less than ten. :))

Yup. if you don't have an account, just sign up.
It'll be in the second email you get (the first after you confirm I believe).
