The rules are simple. You can promote your layout any way you chose so long as its not spamming, not using invisible iframes, not launching any popunder campaigns etc. I will find out if you are cheating and your site will be banned indefinatley if caught.

Whatever layout has the most views for the week will be awarded $1,200.00 USD. Made payable via either paypal or check.

What counts as a unique view is someone who comes to your layout info page with an IP address not yet recognized. Do not attempt to use proxys to pad your stats..I have a system in place to detect this and you will be disqualified if caught cheating.

The prize has been raised from $1,000 to $1,200

Only person who is not qualified to participate in this contest is zooped because I marketing campaign setup through his site.

Lets make this a successful contest and goodluck to everybody.

I dont want to hear any opinions or negative feedback. Keep your opinions to yourself, if you dont like the rules, the site, or me, start your own thread. The last thread got out of hand and greg had to step in, I dont want this to happen again.

Here are some tips on how to drive traffic to your layout(s):

- Use your site to display layouts that link to that layout on layoutsnetwork.

- stumble your layout. This can be very powerful, stumble all your layouts, have your friends stumble your layouts. this can generate some good traffic.

- related forums. Maybe theres a baseball forum where members are looking for a quality baseball layout etc.

*****only members of this forum are eligible to win and must be a member for at least a week. This is prevent anyone from accusing me of setting this up etc.

thanks cyclops. just dont want the same mess and arguments as last time. I think everything is cleared up by now though, everyone had a chance to let it out of their system lol.

By the way, you can NOT redirect your website to your layouts info page. Your visitors must want go at their own free will. If you display a mickey mouse layout on your site, and it links to your mickey mouse layout info page on layoutsnetwork, thats fine.

I was listening to our local radio station the other day and the guy was coming down on Paris pretty hard. So I stated thinking that would make a nice controversial layout. It's pretty funny and pretty sad. { You can see it over at layoutsnetwork.com } I can't understand her little dog but he's cute.

way to give a plug to the website. LOL. you can also see my butterfly layout there. LOL ROFL

off the topic really quick....did you see the mtv movie awards? the host made a joke about paris, and the look on paris' face was PRICELESS

Assailant:

can you explain the view count, because on the category page, my layout shows a higher view count then when its showing on the main page under the top ten list??

Assailant
June 11th, 2007, 09:07 PM
yes, the view count you see on the listing page and the layout info page are the overal views from day 1. The only place you can see your WEEKLY views which started monday, are on the right top ten list. so unless your layout is in the top ten for its category.

hotmonkee
June 11th, 2007, 09:30 PM
ok, but wouldnt or shouldnt the weekly views under the main top ten be higher? because if i have uniques on the layout in the category page that are higher than the main top ten, then im confused :(

June 11th, 2007, 09:31 PM

hope there's a contest us smaller sites can actually have a chance in for the same type of prize money ;)

I didn't even think to do that. I could've redirected my site url to my layout page and had over 10k views in 5 days. But I didn't think of it, and thought it wasn't really fair to just not give my visitors a choice on whether they wanted to see that layout or not (after we were well into the contest of course).

The winner of the contest is the B-I-T-C-H layout submitted by mymackspace. Contact me as soon as you can, or ill try to track you down within the next day or two. If you dont want to claim the money, thats fine by me.

The contest was a decent success although I wish more people would have participated in it. There were really less than 5 people who were putting in any sort of effort. I'll probably launch another similar contest but probably with a little less cash prize. Thanks to everyone who participated.

What were the overall figures?

Connections
June 19th, 2007, 08:18 PM
yeah man i think it would be more fair if you have 2 prizes..

1 - something for the big boys who send u 20k uniques.

2 - something for the little guys like mystery layout random pick or something...

therefore it gives every one a chance.

Assailant
June 19th, 2007, 08:27 PM
well i dont know how to see the exact figures. snazzyspace oohwah layout had the most views but after a few complaints I checked and saw that his/her corner banner was covering the home and navigation links on profiles..which was generating blind clicks. I deducted the blind clicks from his/her overall count to be fair and mackspace was the winner with a little over 6,000 views.

June 19th, 2007, 08:30 PM
I'm guessing most participants gave up after the top 2 had twice the views of the rest. It's probably best not to waste the traffic at that point.

I kind of like Connections' idea of doing a random pick from participants to even the playing field for all. Maybe a minimum view count for entry, or something like that to encourage traffic...

I suppose for the same cash, you could just pay out $x per 'x' views or something to that effect. That way you get the traffic you want and everyone would have an incentive to join in.

Might encourage more participation from both small and big players. Anyway, just another idea to mull over.

Well, I know everyone has ideas of what could be done. The bottom line is I need to look into what will benefit me the most. I dont just decide im going to give away $1k+ for some contest. I research what will benefit me the most. The ideas being mentioned I have already considered before making any final judgement on the prize.

The reason why I have a 1 winner mega jackpot is simple. This gets the participants to push their layout on forums, friends, their websites etc, which will give the site a boost. Today the site got over 2,000 uniques, about 1,000 from search engines and some still from the after effects of the contest as well as various other resources.

Not bad for a site less than a month old eh?

I was just discussing with a friend of mine how well that contest helped the site, and how well the site will be doing in the future. I was like "I'm GLAD to put my layouts on a site that I know will be popular in a very short time" Its a wonderful setup and this is the best possible tool for any of us, you benefit, and we benefit at the same time. I can already see a small spike in traffic from profiles. I haven't jumped in the serps for any new keywords, and havent bought links or exchanged with any high traffic sites lately, so the traffics gotta be coming from somewhere, and i'm gonna bet its from people using my layouts at layoutsnetwork.

Thanks dude. Well done.

thing is man little sites will never be able to win, even if they send the link to their friends of post it on a forum, how much traffic will this generate?? not 15k uniques will it.

competitions are best when the whole playing field has a chance on the final prize.
do you think when a big corporation has a competition they will design the competiton so that only 10% of their target market can win it...pfft no...

not just the sites getting 200k uniques a day becuase they will win every time...

all they need to do it place a link on their site going click here for sexy new layouts right on their index page.

then boom the cash is theirs.....

why bother even entering when theirs site with 200k uniques a day in this it would just be a waste of little site owners time....

hence the fact if you have the seocnd prize for the little people then boom every ones got a chance on a prize and it makes the little peopel think oh dam I will also get in on the action...

Are you kidding me? the winner of this contest got a measily 6k views. Dont give me that nonsense that only big players had a chance to win. EVERYBODY had a chance to win this contest. All they had to do was generate more than 6k views to one of their submitted layouts in a weeks time. That can easily be accomplished by having friends stumble, digg, post on forums etc. Dont pass the blame on me because many people passed on the opportunity and don't try to accuse me of running an unfair contest...this contest was up for grabs for anyone here to win it...only few people wanted it enough to give a valiant effort.

There are so many things that you could have done it would of been unreal. You yourself didnt want it bad enough to make it happen though.
