Hi,
If u own your own myspace resource site, how much uniques does it get per month and how much bandwidth does it use per month? And are you using shared or dedicated hosting?
If i had a site that got 2000uniques per DAY,would a shared server be fine to use?

It would probably be fine but it would load slow and you would have some downtime. I personally would buy those $100 servers and as your visitors grow, you can add more ram, space, and bandwidth :)

Many members here have sites that get 8000 uniques a day on shared hosting and have no problems but usually that is about as high as you can go before you will want to switch to either a VPS or dedicated server.....as for bandwidth I averaged 4gb a day with 3000 uniques

Thanks for that info! I'm looking into getting a VPS and dedicated at some of the nicer hosting companies for my upcoming projects. I have shared w/ 1and1 right now which has been fine until now, 3 years w/ them so far, but yeah tech support sux like everyone says.
Anyone know how much some of the top myspace resource sites are spending in bandwidth? And are they constantly using free photo resources like PB, because I know the MSLS script uses code that checks to see if a picture is still hosted on a free site before it pulls from the servers bandwidth - pretty smart.

Yeah.
- In total honesty, it depends on what actual kind of server you're on, and the hardware ;)
- It also depends, when and how many users are accessing your site at any given time.
- It depends if your myspace site, allows direct linking of your images.
If you have 1000 people using your layouts, and you use direct linking, and then suddenly nobody is going to your site anymore, you're hosting resources are still being sucked up. That is, if your images are stored on your hosting account, and not.. something like photobucket ;)
If you already have a buttload of traffic to your website, skip over a vps. Most VPS companies, already host anywhere from 15-30 VPS's per server. =/ Talk about overselling some resouces ;)

start off with cheap shared hosting...once your site starts to grow, upgrade. use cpanel so its easy to make the switch from reseller to dedicated.

you'll be alright with shared hosting :) I agree with minnseoelite

yeah just build it up gradually and work on making sure your site scales from early on, it hurts latter, LOTS.
