Wow, this is a four page story in the New York Times about a team inside Google that tweaks its search engine to produce better results. It mentions that Google looks at over 200 signals in ranking results. Of course, the engineers did not reveal secrets, but the article is still a very interesting read.

Yea good article the last I heard its more like 700 different things Google uses to determine ranking and it constantly changing which goes to show that anyone that claims to know Googles algo is completely full of crap

well you dont need to worry about the algo **** if your favoured by google...
I think the whole "favoured system" iis the worst thing ever on google...

anyone that claims to know Googles algo is completely full of crap I got to agree,
it's also quite amazing how smart google bot is, it's almost like it has human logic behind it, it's probably the most advanced thing on the net today.

I think the whole "favoured system" iis the worst thing ever on google...
there is no such thing as "favored system". it is primarily the backlinks that certain sites have accrued. lets say a site started 3 years ago and has been using a certain anchor tag for that long... and you jumped in 6 months ago.. you have NO CHANCE... there really is a thing called seo... it does exist... and just like this article says... there are HUNDREDS of factors..

Yes SEO does work and you don't have to know all the factors that determine how sites are ranked as most of these factors are so small that they can easily be swayed by things like Title tags, On page content, and incoming links
