So I was thinking about starting my own personal blog here the other day, first thing, get a domain. So I head over to go daddy, first mistake.

Now I havent registered a domain in quite some time, I let greg do that since its like crack to him. So I find the domain I want, go to the check out because I thought it would be in my shopping cart, second mistake.

I find out I dont have an account with them, which is weird because I have about 5 domains I bought through them. Thats fine, now can I find the register, or login link? Hell no, doesnt exist, its like a piece of bacon in a a rabbi's house. So I finally stumble on to it 5 minutes later, third mistake, I should have left.

So I create my account then procced to the check out once again, wtf mate I have no domains in my cart. So I go back and find them again, go to the check out. By this time I have lost my inet connection because of my ****y dialup, so now im not logged in an more for some reason. fine, I log back in, get the domains I want back into my cart. go to the check out. fill it out my registrar data because apparently using my personal data that I used to sign up isnt good enough, go to paypal. wtf mate why the hell does paypal want me to enter in a new CC for this transaction? Go to paypal, and find out that my main one has expired, not your fault godaddy, paypal should have sent me a email.

By this time I have closed my tab with the paypal/godaddy crap on it. So repeat, login (I think i heard something about a cookie?, must be like jewish bacon again). finally get my domains, bought paid for, done, finished. It was late ad I was made after spending about an hour trying to work there system, so I went to bed.

Now im at a welding shop right now because they are letting me borrow there broadband, good stuff. I finish catching up with my customers, lets finish setting up this domain/site. I add the dns info on the server, set up the hosting, perfect went smoothly, not a hitch. Now I remember I have to go back to godaddy, and change the nameserver on thier site to ours. Can I remember my login info? hell no. go to the username/password retrieval page, enter in my emial address, wtf mate not found. So I have a smoke, and come back to it. go through my emails and there is the one I got last night that has my domain confirmation in it, it also has my customer number, perfect. I log in, and go to check my email address. Now one would think it would be under contact information, no that would be easy. couple minutes later I find it in some obscure security settings page. Its not correct, or valid for that matter.

So here you go godaddy my gift to you.

^\w+@[a-zA-Z_]+?\.[a-zA-Z]{2,3}$

stupid simple email validation using regex, use it please when somebody submits there email. 2 second google search gave me that.

So I change that, and now I've got to find where to change the nameservers, ok that didnt take that long, pretty easy and painless. yay now all I have to do is wait for the dns to propogate and I'll be set.

So this is my question, if they are so popular and big you think they would hire people to go through their site and tell them what sucks and what is kick ***. Honestly It shouldnt be that hard to give someone your money. I mean seriously I should have left earleir, and went some place else I dont know why i didnt. Once Greg gets back online i'm going to transfer my domains over to the service he uses, cause he doesnt ***** about them and the guy has several more then anybody needs.

So the short and sweet version is this, godaddy your site sucks, its not user friendly, but you have nice t***s,

You'll have to wait 2 months before being able to transfer the domain(s) out of GoDaddy.

xD !!!

Yeah everything is way too cluttered, I get headaches. I recommend NameCheap.

At least the domain wasn't registered by someone else by the time you finally got to register it. Cause once you search for a domain it gets registered in about a day by someone else.

That would be ICANN mate. :)

It's an ICANN rule, nothing to do with Godaddy.

That is true.Whenever I buy a domain off someone that is free pushed at Godaddy I can't wait for the 2 months to be up so I can get it to Namecheap.
Their nameservers update so much quicker.

The only beef I have about Namecheap is that they would not let me transfer GoogleFire.com there for some reason.

lol des, the bandwidth gods hate you. I couldn't imagine doing all that with dial up! Although not with godaddy, I have spent over an hour on different accounts trying to get things updated and changed and jumping through fire hoops to do it. A pain even when things update fast. I would have shot someone with dialup lol.

I actually like godaddy. Probably because I have learned where the parts that I need are and how to skip through most of the upselling crap. Just takes getting used to lol. But I like them because I know they are not going anywhere for a long time and it's easy to manage the domains once you get them in there.

Now ipowerweb...that is a complete nightmare when dealing with bulk domains!

So are you going to post when you have your blog setup so we can check it out?

I agree Des F#%@ing Godaddy sucks, I can't even log into my account anymore and I have domains coming up for renewal. NameCheap is the one for me, easy to navigate your way around, and in most cases a lot cheaper.

Greg has a few domains I bought off him at Godaddy and I never could get them transfered into my name. I hope he's paying when they come up for renewal :shuriken:

Man thats alot of hassle , but I have bought over a 100 domains on godaddy and never had any problems with them and with promo codes they are the cheapest by far at about 5.50 with free private registration for .com's . I also cant imagine doing all that on dial up thats probably the most frustrating thing of all. Good luck with everything though.

I use godaddy to purchase all my domains. I have never bought a domain without using one of their many coupons.

If you message Godaddy and tell them that you didn't sign up for it and that it was fraud, they'll get rid of the domain ASAP, and the domain will be free quicker. Although ICann is in charge of the domains.

Try Name Cheap.
