I was at the dinner table and my mom noticed my nails and she almost spit out her food. "Omg Sergio your nails are sooo pink! I'm taking you to the doctor tomorrow." Well at least she worries about me, but that's not the point. She brought in my aunt, and she's pretty old and has had her share with diseases. She told me the possibilities of my slightly darker nails and she scared the crap out of me. The worst part is that they're blaming the fact that I type so much.
Does anyone know what it could be? I don't want my fingers chopped off, especially since I play guitar all the time. I could care less about the computer.
Ahhh I fear the doctor so bad. I hate having my private parts examined by old people, regardless if it's a girl it's not like she enjoys doing it. xD

its probably just a nail fungus or maybe you just have good blood flow under your nails which makes them look more pink than a normal persons

Er, maybe it's just cold? You need some sun? Are you an albino and really white, which in turn makes your nails appear really pink?

Hah I doubt it's fungus, I showed my friends today and they said they look really healthy. About the sun, it's so hot here that I only go out at night. O_O But I'm not so white look (http://myspace.com/sergioisgod).

I though the colour of your nails has something to do with how much calcium you drink?

DISCOLORED FINGERNAILS
Colorless: May indicate anemia
Red or deep pink: Can indicate a tendency to poor peripheral circulation
Blue: Blood may not be receiving adequate oxygen due to respiratory disorders, cardiovascular problems, or lupus erythermatosus.
Yellow: Could indicate fungus, diabetes, psoriasis, use of tetracycline, or heredity.
White, crumbly, soft: May be a result of a fungus infection
Half white/half pink: May indicate fungal infection or, more seriously, kidney disease
Small white patches: Usually a sign of injury to the nail matrix
Purple or black: Usually due to trauma, or may also be a sign of vitamin B12 deficiency. A brown or black streak that begins at the base of the nail and extends to its tip could be a diagnostic clue to a potentially dangerous melanoma. See your healthcare provider.
The color of the nails tell there own story:
Healthy nails look pink because of the blood behind it.
Creamy pale ridged nails may indicate iron deficiency anaemia.
Yellow nails may indicate fungal nail infection.
Brown nails may indicate chronic renal failure.
Bluish nails may indicate circulatory, heart and lung problems.
White nails may indicate liver disease.
White marks are caused by everyday knocks, bangs or bumps.
Black streaks in the nail are a cause for you to see your doctor. As is any other unexplained changes in your nails.
When nails get a fungal infection their color changes from a healthy pink to a whitish cream color. They thicken as the fungus works it's way between the keratin layers, become crumbly and may start to leave the nail 'bed'. Getting treatment for this is important.
Iron deficiency may make your nail beds (pink color of skin under nail) look pale pink or dish shaped. Since there is very little overlying tissue, the small blood vessels under the nail are more transparent and reflect the iron in red blood cells, giving a pink cast to the skin under nails. Dish nails look curved and depressed in the middle, similar to though not as severely as the bowl of a spoon.
Those are some of the information tidbits i've found on pink fingernails. Hope it helps you some.

Man you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Just wait until you get older and real health problems start happening you will wonder how you ever even worried about this ;(

Thanks Precious I couldn't really find anything in Google. I'm going to the doctor today so I'll just stop wondering what it is and worry about making it through the doctor without passing out. :|

:P I'm seriously not gonna let them touch it. It was already "checked" a month ago at a physical and I was fine. :$

Why on earth would anyone wish to 'touch it' because you have pink nails?!
btw, as far as I am aware, the only real worry concerning pink nails (apart from if it's nail polish :P ) would be if you had a badly serviced gas boiler.

Update:
- I'm getting glasses, rawr.
- My braces are off.
- I got my AHEM touched. :( They say my heart goes to like 108 and beats in a weird way and I'm gonna get examined to see if I have "taquicardia", if someone could translate that into English then I'd appreciate it that way I could research it. It's definitely not good at all though.

We're kinda in the the same boat. I gotta go to the doctor for a possible cancer case tomorrow. Then wait a week for the results. And you're worried bout NAILS?
=p Anyway, that sounds like a fungus or vitamin deficiency

I must be missing something, Sergio. You go to the doctor because of pink nails and he / she checks out your private bits? wtf?
Tachycardia - heart beating overly fast.

Sounds ominous. What do you think it is, skin cancer? Try not to freak - (a) it can be treated very successfully and (b) it probably isn't that anyway.

I'll be fine I think ;p Lymph nodes can flare up for all sorts of reasons. I read a case about a guy whos were swollen for about 6 months and nothing was wrong. And yabba knew a girl whos were swollen up for over a year and she had tonsillitis x.x Yeah I know some are cancer, but I'm trying to be postive :L
I'll be alright, no worries. Keep you guys posted. And YOU sergio, better keep US posted. But uh.. My brothers a big guitar player and his nails are really rather pink too..
He plays bass.
Thanks for the luck pookie :p

Scary stuff but you're correct - lymph nodes can swell for no apparent reason at all or from a minor underlying infection such as tonsillitis.
There's a new technique been developed where radiotherapy is applied during surgery (http://news.scotsman.com/health.cfm?id=777832007) - the docs are raving about it because it's proving so successful.
However, I hope it's nadda ... and good luck. (Y)

XD My aunt has stage 3 breast cancer and grandma died of it when I was 8. My aunts in REMISSION. At stage THREE. The survival rate for that is like 54% It's awesome. If it IS cancer, I hope its early stage =x
Danngg.. 7 weeks? Crazy. I'd do it, I'd like to think of myself as a strong person (long as no needles are involved. They make me faint)

To be a doctor you need to go to school for like 10 years, so they probably won't be hot although I've seen plenty of hot women. :cool2:
Good luck Kasami, my sister is in the same boat and it's pretty scary. My best friend survived cancer and I'm sure you can make it too. But let's hope you don't have cancer at all.
