I need really cheap hosting for what I imagine will be 3 big resource sites if I play my cards right. I have a budget of $0 currently :X Which I know is unrealistic, But after I try to earn abit of cash I will check you recommendations out.
I'd need quite alot of space and bandwidth as you can imagine.
Any past host experiences are welcome :whistling:

Well alot of people look down on Dreamhost, but I personally have never had a problem with them. They have always answered my questions within 12 hours max. And, I can give you a coupon code that will save you a nice chunk of change. :) They have a nice chunk of bandwidth and space, as well - specially for the price.

When you talk about large sites are you referring to bandwidth usage or traffic? If your sites will be getting below 10k visitors a day but using tons of bandwidth you should be fine with a shared hosting provider but if you are talking about a large site in terms of users you will want to look into VPS or dedicated hosting if your site will be getting anything over 10k visitors a day as that will cause you to use to much CPU and RAM resources for most shared hosting providers.

Like Precious said, Dreamhost is good because of the huge coupon code. But once you start to grow, you will probably already be making enough money to change hosts.

i started with dreamhost and then went to a dedicated server. dreamhost really doesn't bother you. The only notice i ever got was when some admin noticed that our site was using a lot of cpu and he moved it to another server with a lighter load. they do have long periods of downtime every once in awhile, so be prepared for that if you choose to go with them.

i used dreamhost for about a week or so way back in December and didn't have any problem with them. I'm currently hosted with a dedicated server.

I got a message saying that I was using alot of CPU and they moved me over to another server, and it's all good now. I have never had downtime in the 6 months i've been hosted with them :)

If you think your profit is more than enough to cover your hosting fees, by all means upgrade to a dedicated server. You don't have to worry about anyone kicking you by using their cpu usages, etc.

I use bluehost until the sites need to go dedicated.
As long as you have efficiently written php scripts most cheap hosts will handle good traffic. I have one running on bluehost that gets 75,000+ uniques a month so far it still doesn't need to be moved to dedicated.
