Would it be possible that if a mod issues a warning on someone that it will automatically send out a message saying what the reason was for?

I look yesterday and see that I have 4 warnings, one shy of being perm banned, yet, I never even knew I received one until yesterday when precious issued warnings on the Tripple-X thread. In that case, we were told we received one and why. But that still leaves 3 for me that I have no clue why I have them or what I did.

How can the mods expect anyone to clean up their act or not do what they did before if we are not approached and told that we were warned and why.

It seems like the policing system on here is slightly skewed. I can spend hours and hours helping out fellow board members by looking through hundreds of lines of code and fixing their sites, offering to do free tagging for them, etc, but then in 2 seconds receive a warning for saying a curse word or something that an individual mod doesn't happen to like or is the only one to take offense to something, and end up being kicked off the boards and have no chance to dispute the warning or make any comment, or even know why I received it in the first place.

Maybe there is a way to view why you receive a warning and I just can't find it. Maybe I'm out of line asking for this and hopefully won't get warned again! (jk!) Just seems like a reasonable request to me...

Thanks for your time.

we most likely will not give you a warning for saying a curse word unless its excessive. as for the warnings i always try to send a PM to the person explaining what thread it was on that i gave the warning and why

generally you will get a warning for breaking a forum rule like the new one in the marketplace, outright disrespecting another member or mod, running around spamming pointless comments in everyones threads, and similar behavior

hey, sorry I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, I meant to put it feedback & suggestions section but didn't see it until a few minutes ago.

that's great man, that's all I ask. a simple message is nice. I don't think most people do though. I'm pretty sure I knew where 2 of my warnings came from but the other 2 I had no clue what I did wrong and I just wanted to know what I did wrong so I didn't let history repeat itself :)

Is a warning a negative reputation or what? I've never gotten a "warning" or at least I don't think so.

Sergio, negative reputation can be given by a moderator, administrator or a normal user. when a mod/admin gives you red/green rep, you either go up a whole bar or down a whole bar. anyway, warnings can be given by ONLY moderators and admins. they are issued when someone breaks a rule. if you get 5 warnings, its a permanent ban :)

Oh, by the way, you can see your warning level by viewing any post youve made, then look above your join date and you can see it :D

What? Yeah, reason why is a good one x.x

Wtf? They warn you without a reason?

that warning system kinda scares me. I mean any mod with a grudge can just keep giving you warnings and just like that a good member could be permanently banned.

we are not that mean lol, the warning system is a good thing it gives members enough chances to correct their behavior on the forum before they are banned.

Also there is the ability for us to reduce someones warning level if we see that they have done something really good or have corrected their behavior over time.

But they don't have the chance to correct their behavior, because unlike you, most mods do NOT tell people why they have been warned, or hell, even that they have been warned period.

So you do not recieve any kind of message telling you that a warning has been issued? I will mention this to the other mods in case they have not seen this thread.

When we give a warning, we have the option of sending a PM to them telling them why we gave them the warning. Maybe they forget to send the PM because they are in a hurry, Don't know it's there, or just don't feel like giving it.

As for myself, I give a PM to anyone I give a warning to. Actually, I usually warn people via PM before giving them an actual warning! If they continue, then I give a warning and put a little message with the warning as to why it was given.

The only time I didn't PM individuals was when I did a mass warn to those in the group buy thread, which I made a post stating that everyone that received a warning - the reason was...

I'll occasionally go through and remove all warnings that were given without reason, so without a reason they're pointless anyway.

The warning system works perfectly.
I warned myself last week just to test it.

Users are not notified that they received a warning though. The only way to know is to look above one of your posts.

As long as we fill in the message area when we warn you you will get a notification via PM that you have been warned
