ok so me and one of my mates are walking to my car after college yesterday we were in these backstreet near the college and I was giving him a lift home,
this really nerdy looking guy with big glasses glasses and a naisley voice in car pulls over to us in these backstreets and is like "boys come here",
He is like "are you guys interested in some electrical goods? I am a delivery driver for bing lee , I will sell this stuff for cash"
in his car he had like sound systems, tvs, laptops and ipods all this **** .....
we were just like nah man, becuase im not into buying dodgey ****... but this was soo random a nerdy guy selling off stolen ****....
I mean ive been approached by guys before to buy stolen stuff but their usually got the whole "dodgey - gangsta" look about them, never seen a nerdy guy selling this kind of stuff...
has any one else ever been offered stolen ****, or been approached by some dodgey people... Dodgey peoepl really piss me off I mean peopel need to work for their money..

Thats not unusual ... they are normally in a van and approach you at petrol stations. The stuff they are selling is probably legit but they make out it's stolen so people think they are getting it really cheap.
The thing is it's usually cheap sh1t from China. I must admit I bought a pair of speakers once .... and they were good value as it turned out, but yes I found they were made in Chuna with a top brand label placed on them lol.

Hopefully this will make you feel a little better...
When I was 15 I worked in a video store on Broadway in Oakland. Not the most savory of neighborhoods. I was approached by a man with a laptop box and told me he would sell it to me for $500. I told him I'd give him $200 right then and he accepted. 10 minutes later I opened the box to find 2 bricks and some newspaper.
Lesson learned.
What's ironic is that for the last 8 or 9 years I have loathed anyone who is even remotely dishonest. It was probably one of the best lessons I could have gotten at the time.
Keep away from these people is all I have to say.

That's pretty bad Greg, but at least he wasn't an undercover cop as some people are. We were at Costco not long ago and some employee wanted us to go to the "back" so he could hook us up with some HDTV's. Fishy stuff.

It wasn't that bad. I was young and stupid and I got what was coming to me. I don't know if I would call it Karma, but what goes around comes around.

That's actually the scam I thought was being pulled by 'nerdy guy' - can't believe you fell for that one, Greg.

When my older sister was working at a restaurant/bar owned by some italian guys, they always used to offer her free dvd players, tvs, laptops and all that. She was cleaning up one day and found a whole garage full of boxes with stolen goods and ****. Apparently those guys are also connected to a whole string of murders of big mob and gang leaders around Melbourne...they go to their funerals and stuff so its all a bit suss.

I once bought a perfectly good cellphone off a crackhead for $2 at 5 in the morning when i was getting out of a bar.
And i had my friend give me the $2, I sold the cell phone for $150 an hour later...man after hours was good that night. I miss those days.
