More pages or more links?

I'm just curious what you guys think is more important here.

1) Having more pages to index on your site ~ less incoming external links to the pages

2) Having less pages to index on your site ~ more incoming external links to the pages

I really don't know which is better but am curious as to your thoughts.

that all depends on where you get your links from, if they are high quality links a site with 1 page can outrank a site with 300 pages and lower quality links

if you can get one way links from other authority sites in your niche and get them to age 6 months you could throw up a 1 page site and rank in the top 10 at least for some competitive keywords

fyi.....authority sites generally only do paid links at least in our niche so if you was thinking of going this route better have some serious $$$

Have to agree with minnseoelite here. Link quality will always do better than more pages in the serps.

Content on your own site is key. Good content brings new visitors and if they like your content they will link to it.
