Where are you from? Where do you live now?
I've noticed there are site owners from all around the world and was just curious where more people are from. I know that some countries are lacking when it comes to broadband and such so post about any difficulties you have because of where you live too. Would be interesting what we all have to deal with to have our sites up and going.
Me:
I was born in and have always lived in the US. More specifaclly Southern California. I really like living closer to the ocean (about an hour inland) but really like my current area (Corona, CA). Right now I am about an hour away from the beach one way, an hour away from the mountains/snow another way, pretty much the desert everywhere, a little over an hour to visit Mexico, and only about 4 hours from Las Vegas. There are also a lot of major amusement parks withing about an hour or so.
Not that I actually do or visit any of that stuff lol.
As for internet, I have Cable and currently get 6mbit down/256up (I think). I just recently downgraded from 8up because I am broke lol. But the 6 comes out to about $50 a month or so (may be off as I get cable tv through them as well).
Besides living cost, I don't have any real issues/disadvantages because of where I live. Although housing is crazy high, at least decent broadband is easy to get and somewhat affordable...unless you are broke like me lol.
Anyone else? You don't have to share as much as I did but I figured it would be fun to discuss that stuff heheh.

My story is entirely too long to tell it all in this thread as to where I've lived, but right now I live in Southern Oregon, US. I'd like to move the East Coast though. Somewhere around South Carolina or Vermont even. It's beautiful over there, I'm just not fond of living the Bible Belt.

Hmmmmmmmm.......
Im from Virginia Beach, VA in the US but moved from here to NC when I was 15 cause my Dad got stupid and married my STEP-MONSTER. When I was 18 I joined the Army to get out of the booney place my father had moved to.
Spent 9+ years in the Army and traveled the world until I was injured in the Gulf War in 1991 and was medically retired from the Army in Dec of 1994 cause of injuries sustained.
Because I was deaf cause of said injuries it was hard finding anyone that would hire me. I learned to read lips pretty good after my injury so I decided to apply for jobs and not tell them I couldnt hear. I was hired by the Local Cable Company and worked there for 1 1/2 years and they had no clue I couldnt hear. They just thought I was hard of hearing.....LOL
In Aug of 1996 I was hired with Verizon (then Bell Atlantic) and fooled them also.
In 2004 Modern Medicine caught up with me and I went through 4 additional surgeries to restore my hearing. These surgeries started in 2002 and ended in 2004. I can hear now because of said surgeries and life is GREAT again.
I Love Va. Beach and wouldnt move for the world. Im at the Beach and we have four seasons.
Oh Well thats me..

Born: England
Raised: Australia
Live Now: Gods own Country, Land of the long white cloud, ie New Zealand
Broadband here is a joke, fortunately I do have access to some carrier grade bandwidth for those times I really need to push a lot of data.
Location: A place called Dunedin, which is located on the lower South Island, I live 5 minutes from the beach, few hours away from the Ski Fields, Summer temps probably average around 27 celcius, Winter gets down to -7 at times. Even though I live very close to the ocean I also live above the snow line, so most years we get snow. Dunedin is supposed to be the 4th largest City in this Country but to me it's just a big town - about 100,000 people when school is in.

Newfoundland, Canada. I cleared out of here for a year to go to Alberta, but ended up coming back home this summer to get married and start a family.
Not even sure what my internet is. It's my only option so I don't pay too much attention to the speeds. Broadband though. I was stuck with dialup in Alberta because I was so far north, so I don't complain a whole lot these days.

Noooooo......
The support guy I was dealing with when they cut my hosting last night kept saying I had abused their shared hosting.
Like I had deliberately gone out of my way to harm one of their babies.

I am from, and currently live in MN, USA. I have been all around this country, some of canada and a little mexico. I went to europe once, but only to one city. I have 2 kids, but in 10 years or so when they are grown I will get back to traveling.
I became a webmaster somewhat by accident. I was playing a lot of online poker 3-4 years ago, and noticed some affiliate sites. I looked at TOS for the poker rooms and saw how much they pay, when I calculated what I produced in income for the affiliates I played under I was sold. I knew a little HTML from selling some stuff on Ebay, and I started to learn more. I got a site up and made $75 the first month, just by mentioning my site name at poker tables as part of converstaion. I now work full time as a webmaster, own many sites (several poker related).
I really have no idea how fast my connection is or how much I pay for it...LOL. I just pay the bill when it comes. I have DSL and it is part of the phone bill, the whole thing is less then $100 a month.
I never introduced myself on this forum, so I guess this will serve as that as well.

I'm from Tenby in west wales, UK. If you search for Tenby on google images you'll see it's a pretty little place.
Got an 8meg line and am new to the site building game.
In my day job I'm a supervisor of crews that work in Confined Spaces (Sewers, reactors, silos). We work long hours all over the UK.
My hope is to make enough money off the web so that I can get a nice 40hr a week job and be home every night.

Glad to provide amusement. Just to explain, they call these villages 'white villages' because they are exactly that, 'pueblos blancos'. Every house is required under law to be painted white.

Sorry, I sounded a bit harsh there. Didn't mean to come over all 'pompous git' like.
PGZ, no offence was taken, I just thought I'd explain.

I live in Yorkshire in the UK (near Leeds).
I'd love to move somewhere that affords you a bit more land for your money and has decent seasons (cold in the winter and warm in the summer). Any suggestions?
