View Full Version : Say NO to cheap hosting

"...I will not buy cheap hosting ever again
I will not buy cheap hosting ever again
I will not buy cheap hosting ever agan"
Lesson learned.
I was heading for a record breaking day when my host cut me off. Extreme high loads on the server they said.
Good thing I had a contingency plan, unfortunately I am still losing big time as they won't even turn the site back on for an extra 24/48 hours to allow the new DNS to propagate.
For those who want to know which host, a little research on this forum will give you the answer.

Been there... done that...
Happens to everyone. Time to move on to a VPS, forget about shared hosting

Rule is simple...
You have to give money to take money....
I had same problem before some months... i crashed my previous shared hosting server and they suspend my site.... So i moved my sites to a vps :-)

You can get the same problems with VPS. whatever they say you are still sharing the server.
Dedicated is the only way but I was putting off getting another one because I hate managing them. rather I am useless at managing them.

I have said it over and over.....Once you see your site exploding and your on a shared server.....Move it off before you lose hundreds if not thousands cause you want to milk it for all its worth....
Its not worth it and the money you lose could have paid for your dedicated for a month if not more.

i have just lauched my site and have not started promoting it as yet.
when is the right time to move to VPS?
i mean at how many visitors per day.
i would like to be prepared before hand.
as of now i am using shared hosing with pluginspace i thinks its 1gb data transfer per month.

1gb you could easily use that in the next couple of days... (My MSRS site is pushing 20gb a day at the moment, and I started it in late June.)

I doubt it is only 1GB and looking at their site it looks like the cheapest package allows 30GB..

Once you build your content and people start using it you will kill that 30 gigs within a week if your lucky.

I think that you have to find hosting with at least 350-400gb bw ....

Repeat after me:
You get what you pay for.

AMEN
i hope this is the right way to spell it.
i am hoping that the vistitors kill that bandwidth in a week or even in a day
and that they give me enough revenue that i can pay for dedicated severs and everything else that is required keep the site up and money in the bank as well.

You're still going to need some upfront capital. Your revenue won't come for 45 days if you're relying on AdSense, maybe sooner for some other publishers.
You should think about getting another host immediately.

greg you are telling me to switch host now only.
i have not promoted the site at all.
i have checked with the host and they are selling additional 50gb a month at 10$.
right now i a not using much of my 30GBs as well.
i dont mind waiting for the revenue come in my hand after 45 days( cheque in my hand) if thats what you are refering to
all i want is that the stats should start showing clicks and revenue and i am on for investing capital from my side.
please pm me your hosting package anyways i will have a look at it in the meanwhile.

what is MSRS? and how does visitors using your contents affect your site?
isn't your graphics hosted in photobucket.com?

MSRS is gregs myspace resource script. You can see it here (http://myspacepros.com/products).
It's supposed to be really good with SEO, and you don't need databases to use it.

Okay i know about that but why would visitor contents use up the bandwidth?
will it still use it up if you host your images in photobucket?
