Hey i have been targetting a SE term cool myspace layouts
My site www.yourspacelayouts.com is currently ranked number 3 for the term although even with recent link exchanges etc i cannot seem to get to the number 2 or 1st spot.
Anyone able to give me some tips, i really want to get the top spot so i can move on and target other keywords.
Thanks

Keep link exchanging and building backlinks with "cool myspace layouts" in the anchor text. I took the #1 spot for a few weeks before google dropped my site (dp co-op?).
I also checked your home page title and don't see cool myspace layouts. Maybe add that to the title? It should help.

I also do not see "cool myspace layouts" being used for any of your inner page links. it should be used at least once so that google sees you are referencing your own sites pages for the keyword that should help as well.
It may also be that Google has not picked up all of those links you have been building and just needs more time to index them all

Okay thanks although i always think if i pur specific terms in the title it is lowering the reach of my search terms. Also looking at overture it only brings in 16,000 search's a month. Would i be better off going after another term?
Can someone help me with my title tags to boost my traffic? or are they suitable as is?
Thanks
im pretty new to SEO

In your title tag instead of just saying layouts change it to myspace layouts or cool myspace layouts or whatever layout related keyword you want to target

Add the keyword to your title also add a link from the front page to a directory "Cool-Myspace-Layouts" with the anchor Cool Myspace Layouts. Get some backlinks to the new page with title and anchor for your keywords. Add Meta descriptions for Yahoo and MSN.

You need to hit on all the onpage factors to really be effective. You need your keywords in the links, title, meta tags, H1 tag, bold and body text. This technique has always worked well for me.

First is the domain name itself, second is tags, third is links coming in with anchor text.

I take it you are just referring to Title tags......
Would you agree with this order for a myspace site...
1. Domain name
2. Title tags
3. Incoming links
4. Alt tags (for those 100's/1000's of images)
