why pick vps/dedicated over regular?

if most sites offer more space/bandwidth for regular hosting compared to vps/dedicateds, why go with one?

because most shared hosts will kick you to the curb once your site starts gobbling up to much of their bandwidth. Plus there is more chances of downtime with shared hosting then if you were to get dedicated/VPS.

shared hosts offer tons of bandwidth and space but fail to let you know that once your site starts getting so many visitors usually around the 8k - 10k a day mark and starts using up to much CPU time they close your account without much warning (if you get any warning at all)

Sites I run require real processor and ram usage, which is why I require my sites and my clients to have dedicated servers (most of the time).
