We've got a leaderboard showing who is winning at any given time, and all layouts created on our site are automatically included, so we won't have any problems of not enough entries or anything.

I can guarantee 100% that we will "pull through" with the goods no matter what happens. And we will post the winner.

People do it all the time. It's called gambling, or otherwise known in more civilized circles as, the lottery. And they actually pay cash to enter.

The guy is putting up $300 and you could win it by doing just one good layout.... don't over-complicate this.

Hi all,

just to answer a few questions....

You can post as many layouts as you like into the comp.

We don't "own" your layout but by posting it you are giving us the right to display it on our site (even after the competition has finished). There is also a facility in our layout editor

that allows you to include a HTML signature that will go on the profile of anyone that uses you layout - so you can link back to your own site in that if you like as well.

I have fixed the problem you had and it shouldn't happen again. You my have to hold down Ctrl+F5 when you revisit the list in case your browser has cached the thumbnail images.

The "Tender Pink Fairy" layout by Brandon had the same issue so that is fixed now too.

oh and I forgot to say as well that it is as much the content matter of the design as well as how good it is, because it is not a competition judged by set judges - rather the layouts are judged by their own popularity.

I am pretty sure this guys legit he has ranked well in "AU google" for all the top myspace terms for a very long time.

So he obviosuly has the $$$ to pay.

keep in mind that it is the popularity of the layout that makes the winner, not neccessarily the awesomeness of the design skills (although they are related).

We have been suprised in the past by how much people seem to like seemingly simple (but well put together) designs.

i forgot to ask. does the layout have to be designed by use (the graphics) or can we use others layout graphics to design our profile with? does that make sense?

As long as the images you use are free for distribution then there is no problem. The only objection we have is if the original artist does not want them used for that purpose.

Also the Terms and Conditions specify that you can't use images that are already in our layouts.

Hi Jordan,

I've fixed the thumbnail.. Our capture program is a bit of a headache.. You might have to CTRL+Refresh when viewing the page to re-download cached images. Good luck.. Nice layout too..

It started working just before you posted this. However - some of them aren't right? Like in the thumbnails it shows the tables to be one color (exmaple: purple) when they are really another color (example: pink)

the capture program wasn't running at full colour. It is now though so if you give it an hour or so and then press Ctrl+F5 it should look right

wow, hadn't looked at the site in firefox for a while.... I think most of the main issues have been fixed for firefox now.

Photobucket is having some problems with their FTP upload function so the layout thumbnails may take a bit longer to be created this morning, until they fix their issues.

There are some extremely terrible layouts in the list (and some which break the rules of the comp by using existing images).. The comp is ranked by layout usage, unfortunately a lot of people are searching for 'Rockstar layouts' on our site and although only a very small percentage use the one in the comp (less than 10%) it's still enough to be higher than the others.. So if you want to appear higher on the list promote your layouts.. Link to the layout landing page etc etc

Yeah, it seems that the worse layouts with the worst feedback - are ranking the highest. Don't make sense to me - but oh well :-/

Keep in mind there is also a time factor in there, some layouts take longer to perform than others. That is why there is a week between the close of the competition and the judging.

In addition the leaderboard is only an onging indication and not the final ranking. Ratings (along with numerous other factors) will be taken into account in the final score.

Entries for the competition are now closed. Judging will occur on the 4th of June and payment will be made as soon after that as the winners provide us with their account details. A big thankyou to the 160 artists who entered the competition with 460 layouts.

The winning layouts will be posted here and on our website on the 4th of June and winning artists will be contacted via email, so if you are in the running make sure your email address is accurate and that you check junk email folders etc...

my layout i entered ended up on page 4 it was way better then some of the junk on pages one/two/three, I have no idea how you judged these layouts???...I even sent a decent amount of traffic to the page where the layout was probly few thousand hits???? no rank increases at all...weird..

^ I asked drackon and he said it's based on a special formulae that he doesn't wish to disclose. i think it might have something to do with search engine traffic etc. as well as he said that ratings and comments will also be taken into consideration. for example, the rockstar layout was just a background image saying ROCKSTAR and it was number one a week ago - that's because rockstar myspace layouts is pretty well searched and it was getting a fair bit of search engine traffic. I'm guessing there's even more aspects that contribute but my layout got to the first page within a week of me putting the link on my site. but I did also have good comments and ratings :) i hope i'm still in the running.
