Well last month i all of the suddenly LOST my rankings for all my keywords in Google.
I ranked #2 for a few keywords that brought in a few thousand uniques each, ranked top 10 for free myspace layouts and ranked pretty well for a few other keywords. I all of the sudden dropped out over a matter of a couple days.
It has been about a month and a half and I have not regained the the rankings what-so-ever. I'm frustrated and do not understand what could have happened so quickly.
Anyone have any ideas or experience anything similar to this?
Thanks.

perhaps you exchanged links with some bad sites check your link partners to see if they are banned.....if you enter their sites URL into the Google search box and it comes back with no results there is a good chance the site may be banned from G

Do you know if you are still in the index? Maybe search for a unique exact phrase on your site (in quotation marks)... You may have a minus 30 penalty.. Also log into google webmaster tools and see if there are any crawl errors.

I have the same problem for my main site. All my keywords are above 100 in google for 4 weeks now. This is the 3 time in the last 6 months that i am gone from google. The first time it took more then a month to come back and the second time 1 week. I get more pages indexed and i am sure i am not linked to a bad site. There where some crawl errors but i have correct that but it takes time before google takes them from the index. Removed some old url's from the index from the google webmaster tool. Just wait and see when i come back.

I went out completely on 26th march but yesterday started coming back in :)
One of my main keywords (a biggie) is back at no.9 although before it was always at no's 2-3.I can't really complain as there are now another 8 million more results for it than there was before.
I think I was penalised (dropped) because of bad linking.Don't hire an SEO firm is what I have learned.
Hopefully your site will come back.

I dropped on Friday the 4th of May (a few days ago) it's so frustrating. I'm still listed for numerous other keywords, but they're bringing barely anything, I was ranked pretty well for about 4 - 5 keywords and they bought in thousands a day but they're gone.
I hope it sorts out soon =(

remember all of your incoming links from myspace are now gone, that is maybe one problem.

Only links from comments and bulletins not from corner tags

You might also check if link partners are still linking to you. It's possible that soime link partners have removed the link to your site. Also view the code on the link partner's webpage to check for nofollow tags.

It could vary depending on which server your on for google as well. Lastly, let's not forget, when you say I dropped in rankings, someone else is saying 'Yes I went up in rankings.' ;) Gotta keep up with the competition, because I'm sure your not the only one trying to get search terms and there are people coming into the market every day.
I've got my eyes set on a few keywords that I'm making head way on. Look out!

Yeah,
This has been happening to me, instead of going out of google all together though i have been dropped a couple of hundred pages. Then comming back after a few days. Really weird and frustrating.

Well they have not had a major algo update since Summer of last year so I would not be suprised if they are preparing to release another one by this fall.

make sure you check the headers of the sites that link to for a 302 header response.
If you find any, that could be one of the problems. also, dupe content kills you.

I had the same thing happen to one of my sites, it happens a lot with google. Just work harder and you will get your ranks back

I have several sites currently dead in google's eyes (for weeks now). They don't rank for anything at all, including their own domain names, but they are still indexed. Completely unrelated sites too.
The google update in April seems to have screwed things up a lot worse than normal. For many niches the SERP has been overtaken by spam sites and crap too.

I see more and more people dissatified with Google generally. Not webmasters but the people doing the searches.
Even I have noticed the relevance of the results are nowhere near what they were 6 months ago.I have been researching a lot of medical stuff as of late and I can find things a hell of a lot easier using Yahoo.Google seems to be dissapearing up it's own a**
I think if Yahoo made its search page less daunting to the new user,ie took all of that news, weather, sport etc,off the main page, and made it very simple (like the G interface) they would get a far bigger slice of the SE market.

dont just work on one site is my advice..
set up liek 10 sites all hosted with different hosting, use different SEO, marketing and every thing on all the sites,
this is what i do so if one drops out then I have the others still bringing in some money, while I wait for the others to come back into the ranks.

If I had the time and money to get another myspace site running, but with my luck it would just get killed by google also.
My profitable sites are all killed by google now, except my proxy sites.

This is the best advice I've heard and it's true. You fall off for 1 site but other sites still rank. Diff hosting or diff subnets.

That's not that unheard of and kind of an old method. It works though and I personally only use 2-3 at a time, depending on what I got going on for the month. lol ;)

I use 3 different hosts 2 are on shared for my smaller or new sites and 1 is a VPS for slightly larger sites. Will probably be getting a dedicated here within the next few months

I use different dedicated servers for my sites, at two different hosting companies. Hasn't mattered now though since 2 of my dead sites are at one company and 1 of the sites is at another.

I can point out some problems as to why you may be dropping. You have duplicate content. I had the same problem as well and have dropped over 15k daily from google since April 5th.
Take for example:
http://www.zoodu.com/disney-myspace-layouts/
and
http://www.zoodu.com/disney-myspace-layouts/?cat_id=5&num=1
They are the same page but different url's so it's duplicated.

is there a way to 301 redirect that?

I'm sure that you can, you could use an htaccess possibly or an easier way would be to do a php 301 on the page load checking num=1 and directing to / instead

google cost me 4500 last week - I had an arcade site ( adult ) that I had sold.
I was in the top 10 for almost anything adult - game, games, arcade, flash etc...
Now the site is off the map including my sale.....
I am still indexed in google ... I just understand why i dropped so considerably
the site became worthless over nite.

Would possibly explain things it was reasonable drops, and only affected zoodu.com. I've got the same thing happening to two other sites of mine, and a forum. All completely unrelated.
The sites don't rank for their own name, like "zoodu". You just get sites that link to the domain, or proxy links to the site. It's totally messed up.
Up until yesterday I didn't even rank for the full domain name, zoodu.com. I rank for that now, not that it helps with anything.

When I am off Google, a proxy site is on... when I am on Google the proxy site is gone... I agree here proxy 'clones' that people have used to surf our sites seem to be messing up Google (that's the only reason I can think of, especially as you have mentioned it), maybe it thinks dup content.
Is there anything that can be done to block a site from being viewed using a proxy page? The amount of proxy visitors I'd lose would be nothing in comparison to the amount of Googlers I lose because of the proxy links. (If that is the reason for the mess)
DLGx
May 18th, 2007, 02:21 AM
Finding the reason for the mess is kinda crucial before making changes, and in my case the proxy links only occur for zoodu.com, my other affected sites don't show up as proxy links in google. So far I have not been able to find anything that all my affected sites have in common.
