The original thread is going to get to clutter for everyone to understand my reasoning for the subscription model for the MSPgroup forum so I'd like to explain myself here.



I could have easily hand picked a crowd of people who I thought were deserving and then found out if they were interested and added them accordingly. I could have opened to the general public and hoped for the best.

I chose to make it a paid access forum because it is imperative that anyone discussing the site and service before it launches be invested in it in some capacity. The best way to do that is to ensure they are invested before they enter the discussion. We are putting a lot on the line focusing attention on this project with no guarantees.

I stand behind my decision and I ask that you respect that decision. These forums continue to be ad free and I encourage you to support that effort by becoming invested in this project before it opens. It will help you as well as us and I hope you can see that.

I like the idea as a whole....Just don't like the fact that you're being so secretive about the domain, I only want to know the domain name that's all...1) Out of CURIOSITY. 2) I wanna buy a good domain and therefore invest my time, money, effort into a project YOU OWN and HOPE it takes off and goes on to be the next MS so I'm sitting here working hard making graphics for your market and making heaps of $$$$$$$ off it in the long run..IF you get rich, we all get rich too...I bet all the good domains have all been snapped up now then :(

Hey, even those of us who got in the threads have a slim domain selection. I got in only minutes after the subscription began and well, lets just say I'm having a hard time. If he openly released the name, not only would we have every MSP member scrambling to buy domains, but we'd have those people who can openly see the forum (since anyone can read the forums) also spreading the word about the domain and regging them.

Just get the $50 asap and you can reg all the domains you want. I wasn't too happy about paying either, but you spend that money so that you can get ahead on the project and make a lot of money.

I just wanted to clarify I did not! see Any favortism ..and I've never had an issue with anything here, I havent been here long But I see who is who and I respect all the people who contribute to makeing this place a nice place to be!

I've been conversing with someone via PM who is convinced this subscription is nothing more than money making ploy. I want to respond to that mentality in case other people feel the same way.

Most people in this industry, hell most people period, have an emotional attachment to their money. The quickest way to get another person to form an emotional attachment with something is to make them spend their money for it. It's why we love our cars and our houses and our cell phones. Alright cell phones are a bad example because most people tend to hate their cell, but you get the point.

It's not about the $100 or the $50. It's about making you want to get behind the project because you've already invested in it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
