I was searching for keyword pairs and found one I'm particularly interested in that every single TLD for the keywords and the keywords with a hyphen in them has been taken, however the .com is available for the keywords with a double hyphen, i.e. keyword--rich.com
My question is, and I know Nintendo has some experience getting top SERP's with multiple hyphen URL's, do you think/know if the big 3 care how many hyphens are in a url?

I have never seen a double hyphen well ranked at any engine.

People say that about single hyphens too but when you start looking there are plenty at the top of the serps.
I have a few domains with hyphens in them, it's easy to distingush the name and If you use Adwords it is a real help if the Domain is related to the product.
I think the only reason you don't see many double hyphens ranked is that it's very rare for people to take that option.
I'll be interested to hear Nintendo's response as well.

I havn't noticed any difference. I got mostly hyphenated domains but also some with out hyphens. I like hyphens cause it's easior to read the domain. I've never tried a double -- domain.
And having .net, .org and so on doesn't give you less points than .com.

i don't even bother with getting a domain for each different term. just have a good root domain with good pr and branch off with subdomains from there. that way you can get your keywords into the url for free.

Well, as an experiment I just bought a few double hyphens and single hyphen .com .org .net and some .info's - and we'll see how it goes.
