yeah that would definatley be abused...Im pretty sure google is smart enough to catch on though...theres no way to prove most links were purchased...and it wouldnt be a fool proof system anyway...theres just too much room for error.

im sure it will get abused in the beginning just like the whole google bowling thing did and then someone important will complain and they will send out a fix......

I think Google is getting out of hand now. They might very well turn into the Internet Nazi and Dictator.

well just think if there is a site you have been wanting to overtake it the SERPS but have not been able to just do some digging and check the sites where there links are coming from if you find one thats in a "sponsors" section just go to G and report it and after G checks it they should be penalized enough to knock them down 2 or 3 spots lol
Honestly I think the penalty G will impose for having 1 or 2 paid links will be small maybe loose a couple of spots but nothing big. Now for those of you that do nothing but "pay" for your links I would say get ready to get hosed if someone reports you

Isn't a google ad a "sort of" paid link?
They are paying you to put a link to someone elses site.
Not the same I know but still.............

Google wants to dictate where you get your advertising from. Actually they want to dictate everything in a couple years we will all be cursing Google rather than microsoft.

Google said they are just gathering info right now. They arent actually taking action. But it does make one wonder if and what they will be doing with the gathered info.
