I noticed alot of people that are selling glitters use nice silver borders around the clip art and words. What's the easiest way to make those borders in photoshop?

It's just a glitter fill, so just use a glitter fill as a border.

New layer>Color grey
Filter>Add noise-Monotone
Something like that. Then Ctrl+click layer thumbnail of glitter.
Select>Modify>Expand-3 or so px
Ctrl J on your noise layer.
Now you have an outline of the glitter in that noise layer.

Thanks  I'll have to try this out later

I open up a glitter fill in imageready, send it over to photoshop. Then on each frame of the .gif I "define as pattern" and save it into my patterns. Then when I make a glitter, each layer I use a stroke with one frame of the glitter fill. It only takes a few seconds that way (once getting the fill saved) :)

Nice . you should write a tutorial on how to use the fills in the strokes and stuff. I can never seem to figure out how to PROPERLY use them.

NP :) I Hope my description made sence, it was like 1 am when I wrote it lol. Once you get your fill saved in your patterns, its really easy to add th e boarder using the stroke. I also do the glitter this way, on each frame when I add the silver boarder as a stroke, I also add a pattern overlay using a transparent glitter.Basically this is my method after already having my glitter fills put into my patterns:
1. Make new image
2. R click on layer to "blending options".
3. Add 2pt white stroke
4. duplicate layer and then merge visible
5. R clcik on layer to "blending options"
6. Add 4pt silver glitter stroke
7. Add pattern overlay of transparent glitter fill.. you can also play around with the transparency to tone down the glitter if you want
8. duplicate this layer 2 more times for 3 layers total
9. R Click on each of the 2 new layers then going to "blending options" then change the stroke and pattern overlay to the next frame of the glitters in the overlay/stroke
10. send over to image ready, animate and done.
I can get this process done in as little as like 30 seconds on a simple text one line glitter. If im adding fancy effects or adding clipart it can take 1-5 min depending on if I have the clip art pre-selected and if I know what font I want to use.. usually finding a font I like for that image is what takes me the longest lol. My average glitter time is about 1-1.5 minute to make a HQ clipart image.
When I make an image with clipart I prefer to have the clipart and text as own layers then add the white 2pt stroke around each seperatly and then merge visible and then add the silver boarder.. i personally think it looks best with each part of the image having its own white stroke around it
Hope that made sence to everybody or maybe helped somebody find another way to do something :)
This is the end result using my method above:

I hope that helps somebody, and if anybody has tips on ways I could do this faster I'd love to hear them.. there is always room for improvment even once somebody feels they have perfected their method :)

Thank you!! I would be willing to write a more detailed tutorial with screenshots if it could help anybody. Im always happy to help :) I know I left a few steps out such as adding gradient fills before the glitter fill and stuff, I just gave a rough idea above I figured anybody who already makes glitters would get what I was saying and based on your sample glitter I can see that you did :) It looks great!!
Between steps 2-3 is where I personally would add in the text color or texture or gradient fill :)

It's usually just a case of using a grey gradient and then using the noise effect on it. Most people use silver borders on their glitters nowadays. :p

An equivalent set of instructions in using Paintshop Pro and Animation Shop would be great. I am having problems getting the transparent glitterfills over the top of colours.
Is is possible for you to do that whosthatgirl ( if you use psp)?

lol thatd be great for those who don't know how..call me greedy but if everyone here learns to do glitters, they won't be as popular to sell. Like everyone would be making the same glitters and that would just lower sales since all we would see is glitter threads in the marketplace. I think its good for a couple people to know the secrets to glitter making but its not something that I would share because of this reason. I hope i didnt come off rude..if so sorry:):online2long:

I don't think everyone wants to know how to make glitters so that they can sell them on. I would just like to improve my use of paintshop pro. If I can improve my technique. I may offer them as freebies on my site.
