I've seen a few resource sites and MSRS ones that use photobucket or imageshack for their graphic hosting.
Thing is I cant see how anyone would be able to code that using the msrs..
it would save people a bundle on bandwidth.
any suggestions ? If I knew I could do it I'd be buying the msrs right now. the "free" turnkeys have driven me nuts.
So does anyone know what function to use to call to other urls other than their site ?

There is a mod for this for msrs, basically they take the variable that has the path to the images (minus the image name) and change it to use the photobucket account url. simple a that.

using photobucket is a bad idea. your limited in how much bandwidth you get and if it goes then everyone who uses your layouts will have deadlinked graphics as their layout. unless of course you pay the fee for unlimited transfer.

A Pro account is 25 bucks a year so I dont think it will put a dent in anyones pocket.

I do have a pro account. Which is getting full , thing is I am uneasy of committing to a msrs of anykind if I cant link to an outside service like photobucket.
the example mod above has me confused. How and where would you change the variable and which one ?
sounding like a real newbie...what ever happenend to the BBS days... yes I am an old fart. lol.
anyone can they give an example of the path to change ?

BBS went out with the fserves on irc :wheelchair:
So is there any other site that has pro accounts like photobucket? With the same kind of price thats wants people to rape there bandwidth?

Photobucket lets you host your images on their servers, but if you prove to be using too much bandwith, they require you to promote their site on your sites and send them at least 150 visitors per day, and will continue to allow you to use their bandwith.
Freeweblayouts uses photobucket for all their images and it proves to be working just fine.
I have 3 pro photobucket accounts. one i used for freeweblayouts, one i use for hosting image examples, as well as some various site images of mine, and the other I use for all my sites.
I managed to mod my graphic codes script display a code for the outside image and only use the onsite image url to display the image on my site, but if it is used anywhere else it uses the photobucket url. Its fairly easy to do, and does actually save a lot on bandwith.

I switched to 4 photobucket accounts on my msrs and have saved 250GB in bandwidth so far this month.
Payed for itself already.Well worth the $100.

That's exactly what I want to accomplish. But when I look at the source code I'm lost at to which var to change to the photobucket url... yes I guess I an too old school, because I'm still learning php... but throw me a bone I was away from the web biz for a few years ( went back to the military ) now I am back playing Mr Mom and also semi disabled so I'm reteaching myself coding.
lol just when I had mastered JS... I come hone to php and just havent gotten it down completely.
anyhow if anyone knows what the mod is.. that is the line of or var to change... and I'm guessing it is the image maker that is in the "_inc" folder. plz help! :wheelchair:

Why let someone else control your images? I just set up a system for my new site where a user images are served from a second image only server. This way, as traffic builds, the main site won't slow to a crawl. Also, It allows me for unlimited expansion because all I have do to is add another image server as the need arises.
