Instant Pager

An alternative to private messages as been installed and allows you to instant message people on the forums.

For now it is available to anyone with 25 posts, but if it is abused you'll lose your privileges for good with no chance of appeal (we just don't have the time to police that kind of thing).

It is mainly targeted to those of you who participate in the Marketplace to allow you quicker communication with other sellers.

Note that you can disable the pager in your userCP if you like.

Yeah, so far I really like it as well. Right now it checks in 30 second intervals, so you don't need to refresh a page to get a new message.

We'll see how the server does with that and if it's alright we'll move to 10 second intervals for more immediate messaging.

Alright, so the 25 count was short lived. Until this site moves servers we're going to limit it to only people with 100+ posts.

It's enough to give the returning members something nice to use but keeps us from having to beef up the server right away.

Don't know if it is possible but you could just make it so that the auto refresh only happens when the im window is open to reduce server stress. It would mean you couldn't get the first im till you manually refreshed the page but after that the auto refresh would take over.

Not sure if that's possible but just a suggestion.
