I just saw the latest registration as 'mygangsta' and for the life of me I can't figure out what the hell is wrong with kids these days.

If the individual signed up for help on myspace it makes all the sense in the world. Otherwise I can't figure out what would posses someone to choose that screen name....

Well, I for one, am not one to like baggy shirts. :)
But i do wonder about a lot of kids at my school. Seriously i shake my head as I walk down the hall.

It's ruining our youth. And keep in mind, I'm only 26.

I had a nice little laugh this morning I saw some guy walking down the street wearing a trench coat with the patches and spikes, and other various shiny metal studs, with old worn out steel toes, and I thought to my self god i looked funny when i was in high school :P, at least I had the sense to comb my hair, mind you it was 7" tall and straight up :d

I miss my Mohawk.....

Hahah I laugh at the people who dress like complete morons. I'm 16 and I actually dress pretty conservatively. I follow actual fashion trends, not those created by kids. :)

Hey at least we live in a country that allows us to wear whatever we choose.

For those in the U.S. and A.

I don't understand pants that hang so low the underwear is showing. Maybe once I'm really old and don't care, but until then my Scooby Doo boxer briefs are only seen by a select few.

YabbaDoo

Hmmm, I actually don't know where I stand anymore :(
One side of me thinks "WTF ARE YOU WEARING YOU MORON?!"
The other thinks "Then again it is a free country and shouldn't we be like thinking it's cool that people have the confidence to wear whatever he/she chooses"
We all judge each other anyway, those kids might not like what you wear etc.
So on the CLOTHES and clothes only front I guess I'm all for "it's a free country I wish I had the confidence to wear that "
But how clothes tie in with thug and gang culture, is completely different.
If they are wearing those clothes, choosing them screennames etc. to look "hard" "cool" or "gangsta" then no, get a life, be who you want, don't follow a crowd and want to be in a gang that finds pleasure in assualting old people and happy slapping on cellphones...using people as sex objects etc etc...
I'm against that! those really are complete morons who need a to get a hard-work job like join the army or something and get a f*king life :P

Rap (not hip hop mind you.. a complete other culture) is not the only form of music that is hurting America's youth.

Unless you think allowing your kids to dress and follow goth culture is top notch parenting? How about death metal? Marylyn Manson sold just as many albums as Jay-Z...

Songs with lyrics like "let the bodies hit the floor" aren't exactly spurring young minds to do great things, wouldn't you agree?

The conversation seemed a little one sided so I thought I'd throw that in there :)

Haha, true.
I blame media for 90% of crime lol

Also, I practice what I preach.
I would never upload an graphic containing an image of a gun or knife, or drugs, to any of my websites.

I just pull on some jeans and put on a tshirt.

I put the Gangsta/Urban look up there with Preppy, Goth, etc.

I do own some urban clothes from back in high school. The high school I went to was like filled with gangsters and gangster-wannabes. Even now only a few years after graduation at least 10% of my graduating class has already been locked up (keeping in mind my graduation class was only around 94 people). Mostly for gang related murders, and robbery's gone wrong. Its kinda funny when I see their pictures on the local news and think back to hanging out with them back in middle school then once we got to high school everyone went different directions.

For our talent shows people would either crip walk, fake fist fights, act like pimps, or lip sync to rap. I really dont miss those days. :innocent:

Rap (not hip hop mind you.. a complete other culture) is not the only form of music that is hurting America's youth.

Sure their are alot of crappy pop rap artists who turn kids into wana be gangsters, but their are also a large number or popular and underground rap artists who do massive things for the community and donate massive amounts to charity and community based projects.

what about all the other styles of music that hurt the community eg - emos style music, punk music the list is endless with junk artists form other styles of music who are turing the youth into social outcasts...

Media only focuses on the negative points of music eg when rappers kill other rappers or some other stupid negative points, their are massive good points rappers do for people.

Media has serious affects on society considering most households of 2 parents are both forced to work to bring home the bacon. That's only 2 parent homes. There are a ton of single parent homes as well stuck in this situation. This leaves the computer, the boob toob, and the radio to raise your kids.

You can't blame rap music for this either because most of the rap artist don't really control most of their own content and it is forced upon them by the music industry. Most of these rappers are just tools anyway.

Haha there are things about todays youth that just baffle me. Maybe its because I'm in the "smart kid classes" at my school and we're little geeky nerds who do our work and actually want to succeed doing something decent with our lives, and Im not one of the other kids, but seriously, it just makes me wonder "are these really the future people who will be working in this country and voting in elections and basically the future of America"

I can see it happening every year as each class below us gets worse and worse down the line as far as things like drugs, and just overall rebellion and ignorance. We, as a sophomore class are a step down from the juniors, who are a step down from the seniors as far as overall moral character and just overal rational behavior as a human being. And as I contemplate my senior year with the idiots we will have as underclassmen, I seriously want to punch myself.

On another note, its not fair to totally blame music for the deterioration of our youth. Media and just the overall downfall of society I think is to blame mostly for our youth being complete retards.

Just my 2-cents.

How can you blame music for the way people are if you want to blame any oen blame the parents of these kids who let them do what ever they want.

Just check out this video Camron Vs O'Reily, sure camron acts like a bit of a dickhead in this video but he raises some good points, its basically 100% the parents fault and not the music's fault for the way people turn out.

Yeah, thats true. I blame the parents and will always blame the parents as its their job to instill some values and morals in these kids. School isnt a break from having responsibilitys of raising your child, its more of a test to see how strong your child's morals are, to see if they rise to the occasion and take responsibility for their actions.

The people who commit crimes didnt develop the problem when hearing rappers talk about it or seeing it in a video game. The underlying problem has been there since day 1 and a lot of people were not qualified or could not identify it in time.

My clothes are all baggy and i like beanies and backwords hats, i have 2 earings and always have a gold chain on. I think we dress like this because so many ppl tell us we can't. It's a style just like anyother, some love it, some don't understand it. but seriously baggy clothes are comfy.

Since were on the topic of fashion, has anyone been watching the TV guide channel lately? what scares me is that a bald fruit cake in a pink turtle neck dictates what is in fashion on national TV. I'm still in dis belief.

ahhhh memories of highschool. I did everything wrong, nothing right and had ALOT of fun.. and I still got the same diploma as all the A kids and I go to the same college as our validictorian.. I think it takes a smart person to realize that they can have fun and screw off during school and still pass. I reccomend you start having a little fun - live a little you know, your only in highschool once..

also, it isn't only the kids that ware baggy pants that ditch school and smoke weed. It's stereotypical to say that.

Hey now. Nobody ever said anything about not having fun. I have um quite a little too much fun at times if you get me. Trust me i'm not one to love staying home on the weekends to study for a test, but I'm not one to totally not do anything at all in school at all you know, and just totally blow off everything and not care about my future in any way at all. I know how to have a lot of fun, but I also know how to act like a rational human being as well. Some of the kids at my school, its just they don't care about anything, and I can't take that about people, when they just don't care about ANYTHING.

But hell, I love to party more than anything. I'd drop everything and go to a party, even if I had 4 tests the next day. In fact, I am getting my party on this weekend :DDDD and I am more than excited.
