I decided to have people pay AFTER they received the glitters, well not all people are paying me (and no, I'm not talking about the 200 glitters group buy). Or maybe I'm just impatient since its only been about 3 days.
Do you have people pay before or after?

You may have to remind some people. There are so many group buys going on people may get confused. If someone doesnt pay after a while, report it to a mod i guess.

I would definitely suggest you get paid before sending out the glitters. If they need proof take like a screenshot of the thumbnails for their graphics and send it to them.
Ive had all good experiences except for 2. One was poor quality, the other the person spent the money and never did the work. Paypal could only recover a small amount. :( 2 among a ton is very small though so its mainly smooth deals.
Back to your question, definitely dont send out your work before getting paid.

I'd have the people pay before they get their glitters, there are many dishonest people out there, sad to say. Y ou could always contact them when the glitters are ready to be sent, and say that their glitters are ready and they can now send payment, and once you recieve it, you will instantly mail over their glitters.

Thanks for the advice. :)
I always feel guilty asking for money through PM even if they are buying the glitters.

You should collect payment before you even start the work.

You make good contacts, and build trust with certain people. With those people you can make now, receive payment later, as it shows you trust them. But only do this when they're willing to trust you aswell.
If it's a new person who is demanding the work be done first, tell them NO. There are many people wanting work, so why risk it for people who aren't going to trust you.
Thats how I think anyway

For large amounts of money I work with half before, half after. That way both parties are commited to a smooth transaction.
Usually, someone who pays half upfront is willing to go the way.
However, for smaller amounts say $25 .. get a good iTrader and then simply work on payment before.

I agree with dean - half before and half after - a simple quick phone conversation can also add more to honestly and loyalty.

I don't have a problem with asking for money first because I feel confident about myself since I have a good iTrader (at least on DP).
But it's sort of a standard to pay first, then get the goods. At least that's how my first ever transaction was, and now I do it like that all the time.

Get money first.
I'm learning this the hard way. I made 100's of glitters for someone and I was promised payment a couple days ago. And hopfully before I sign off I will get paid. =///

I would show a screenshot for proof and make them pay first. This way, both parties would be satisfied with the deal.

Get paid FIRST.
If you are something of an unknown quantity to the general marketplace, half down and half on delivery will suffice for your first dealings with a client.
I usually always pay before I receive the goods - it's pretty much expected and means I never forget to pay anyone - it's really embarrassing to be asked for payment for something I should've paid for and have simply forgotten about (it has happened a couple of times although thankfully with people I've dealt with previously who know about my rather dodgy memory :o )

Get payment before delivery. Payment before starting a project isn't necessary.
If its a large $$$ project then a down payment is understandable.
