View Full Version : How many sales threads do you post a month?

The reasoning behind making the Marketplace a per-per-post area was to dissuade people from spamming it with posts that aren't worth a look, and it's worked great. The Marketplace has turned from a spam infested forum section to a thriving economy in a very short time.

There are many of you that post several threads a month, and some per week but still do not take advantage of the Vendor Membership - which is designed to alleviate the constant posting fees.

In an attempt to find a better solution I would like to know how many sales threads you post on a monthly basis.

probly less then one a month,

I think the $100 for the member ship is still a little high,

you should offer for long time members a special of $49.99 for a few weeks or someting for the vendor membership, just a little idea to generate some more revenue.

Probably around 1-2 a month, depending how much free time I have on my hands.

Oh and I agree with connections; introducing shorter-term and lower cost vendor memberships might attract more people.

What kind of fees for the membership would you all like to see for 3, 6 and 12 month memberships if I removed the pay per post in this forum and only let people with subscriptions post here?

3 months = $25, 6 months = $45, 12 months = $75? I don't know but working on people making an average of 2-3 threads a month that works out. However I'd still like to see the pay per post option left in place.

Maybe some type of setup where after a seller has 10 completed sales threads they get a large discount on the longer term? Some of the sellers here have done a great service to the community and many offer some great deals. Also rewarding those that give MSP great group buys and high discounts just for being members here would be great.

I probably post twice a month.

I feel anyone should have the independence to post a thread with $5 at any time. The way it is now - works fine. I hardly post a thread in a month. Bought just twice.

I havent been here that long but so far I have posted 4 of them. I like them the way they are and I think the price at 5$ a post is good. The other ideas sound like they would be good as well though.

I've made three threads so far. :P

I was going to buy the membership but the price is really high.

I like the $5 a post as well. I fear that if subscription prices were lowered, it would lead to more spamming. i.e. Hey I paid for a subscription, I'm posting a new sales thread everyday.

On a side note, the first thing I do when I enter the marketplace thread is sort by last post.

I've not been here for a month yet but I'd probably post about 3 /4 a month.

I post about 2 per month. The per post fee of $5.00 is good. The 3, 6 and 12 month membership ideas are good as wel.

I've posted 2 threads in the time I've been here. The only reason I haven't posted more is that I've never made anything back from what I posted.

Listing by date created is just an easy way to dissuade people from bumping their own threads.

I'm somehow disagree (sorry) with 'Listing by date created'. Why? because some good offers - meaning that a lot of people are interested in and post replies - are buried to the bottom, and it's sad for the respective seller, he has good products and his thread is hardly being noticed by buyers. Why don't just place the rule 'Lock the bumping threads', everyone won't want to lose their $5 investment.

just my 2c. :)

thread bump will start but getting buried is worst

As for the arrange by date it is somewhat abbolished by the recent posts on the homepage because I just watch those ten posts through the day and pop my head in when there are some new posts on a subject. So it's a bump without being completely bumped.
