I'm currently with Surpass (yeah, I know http://img117.exs.cx/img117/9585/q9crolleyes.gif).
Anyway, I've just received an e-mail saying that one of my sites (an image hosting site) is using "too many resources" and that it will soon be suspended soon if I don't upgrade to a dedicated server.
I've closed the site and deleted some of the images (the .bmps, there was a lot) but I want a host that won't threaten to suspend my site when, in total, I'm using less than 10% of the space and bandwidth I paid for.

So, any recommendations?

Buttt.........
If you really aren't using what you signed the contract for (read the TOS and make sure there aint some clause that says "No image hosting sites allowed" (or whatever, you know)
If you're sure you are keeping your end of the bargain then email them and tell them they are breaking there end of the contract and to explain what rule in their terms you are breaking!
If they cannot come up with a good excuse, then they are breaking their end of the contract so just report them to Trading Standards or threaten legal action or something..Usually works with them type of companys! Just bullys that think they can take peoples money and not provide what they said (You can always use the OFCOM "false advertising" card, that works pretty well in England ;))

Did you read their terms to see if maybe there's a certain clause for resources? Some hosts have a certain amount in their terms and if you go over they can suspend your account reguardless of bandwith.

Check their terms and then ask them exactly what they mean about "too many resources".

I had the same problem with my host when I had a dedicated server, they charged me over $500 for bandwith overages yet I never got contacted about it nor did it show up in my webhost manager. So I contacted them and fought about it until they removed the charges and refunded me.

Stick to your guns :P

If that doesn't work i'd say surpass isn't half bad, I used them for years and never had any huge issues.

Lol, I forgot about this thread.

I'd never had any real issues with Surpass before (bar a little downtime a few months back) and their support has always been really great.

The "resources" I was using was something like 30-something per cent CPU when you're not allowed to exceed 10 (or 20).

Though now I'm a little worried as all the hits from that site have redirected to my main site and they might decide that that should be for the chop too. >_<
