Ok I want to start a youtube style site based pn probly greg js script, I have 900+ videos ready to go on this site but the problem is its over 35 GB in content and this would take for ever to upload on my current connection as its only like 1mb upload or something crappy like this.

Reason for setting this site up would be becuase I am sick of youtube taking my profits.

How much bandwidth would a site liek this need becuase I know for sure some of these videos after a few months would have like 25 000+ hits.

Who would host such a site? also woudl their be a quick way to get 35gigs onto the server?

thanks.

I'm sure any dedicated hosting site could handle it. like rackservers or something.

yes be sure to have enough bandwidth (1-2TB a month), check hosting companies in europe for lower prices

Streaming video can be a server-intensive task versus just allowing video to be downloaded via right-click save-as. Therefore you will probably need decent server hardware. To calculate how much bandwidth you will need, I would recommend estimating by taking the average size of the videos and multiple by the number of expected visitors. For example, a 40MB average video size times 25,000 views would equate to 1000000MB of bandwidth transfer or 1000GB or 1TB.

1 - 2tb is way too low imo. You will need to balance to load across several servers I'd imagine.
