Get the smily face banner message everytime they go on a myspace profile or to look at pictures?
It's so annoying! I think it says "I'm counting down the minutes until I can be with you again." I wanna rip my head off when I hear it lolol.

I was just ranting about this to my friend. I hate it so much! I have no idea what the advertiser is thinking, it's just making people not click it.

Am i the only person who LIKES to annoy people by scrolling over it all those times...? The one thats like SAY SOMETHING, and the HELLO one is rather funny if you keep scrolling.
But the advertiser, in my opinion, did an excellent job. Look how many people recognize the description of the banner and don't even have to see it to know what banner you are talking about. You will ALWAYS recognize the banner, and whether you click it or not, you know the site exists, simply because of those annoying smilies.

I'm sure the complaints are pouring in.
Myspace is all about being user friendly and NOT annoying.
They aren't exactly helping - I wonder if this makes people WANT to click the ad or just stay away from it.

Me and my friends imitate the smilies. like..in real life. we make smiley voices.
But the one "i'm counting the minutes" or w/e smiley, my friend just randomly brought up today at school. she was like "oh my god you know that pedophile smiley on myspace" i was like WTF. But seriously, think about it. If people bring up these smilies in random conversation, imagine it. They remember it, therefore it sticks in their head. So everytime they want some snazzy smilies thinks "gee i remember this smiley that used to tell me hello" and wabam traffic.

OMG me and my friend have this ongoing joke about those ads... the one that screams 'OH MY GOD NO WAY!' we always mimic it and every time i hear it i piss myself laughin.
I'm sure they get a lot of traffic...kids usually love annoying little smilies to use on msn etc.

As a advertiser its a stupid idea becuase if you see something screaming at you are you going to look at it? no you are not you will end up closing it.
Sure the concept of voice over banner advertising and flash ads is not new at all its been around for ages, just people dont use it becuase its annoying.
It would be alot more effective if it was a catchey line that was a product these banners were saying, but is it a catchey line or fraze no its not its something not even related to their product, hence product recognition not just HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
But when targeting lil kids its probly effective as these stupid banners probly drag in kids under the age of 15. Hmmmmm... well thats obviously the demographic these banner ads are goign for.

I think I would have to agree with Selena on this also :P. I never thought I would say this but although I hate that annoying kind of in your face 24/7 (OMG, GO DIE!) type of advertising it does seem to work...God knows why:s
But it reminds me of two of the worlds most annoying (yet extremely successful) words:
Crazy
Frog

I'm glad we're all on the same page. I hate them. One time I had like 40 tabs open it was 4am and I couldn't find the damn banner page, all I heard was "Heloooooooo" every 5 -7 seconds lol.
