I have a slightly simple problem.

I am thinking about transferring host tomorrow & I have a few questions.

I am running wordpress & I wanna know how can I transfer my site without having my wordpress post/comments deleted?

Also my phpaskit.
I am trying to transfer it without having the questions/answers deleted.

Is there a way to transfer the database so it'll be okay when I am transferred?

And all my files use includes so if i transfer do i have to keep the same username as the one I have on my current host?

What do I need to do to transfer?
I know you can't just upload the contents and expect everything to be perfectly fine.

Disable all your wordpress add-ons, back up all the files and then back up the database. Upload all files then the database on your new server and edit your wp-config to whatever settings might have change with the new db-name and db-host if it changed.

In order for everything to look and work just as it does now, you should follow her instructions.

Disable all your wordpress add-ons, back up all the files and then back up the database. Upload all files then the database on your new server and edit your wp-config to whatever settings might have change with the new db-name and db-host if it changed.

Okay, just make sure the auto install is the same version as you're currently using to be safe. But you won't have to worry about the files except for any add-ons. Disable all your add ons before backing up the database, go into your phpmyadmin and save, "export" your database as a .sql file. After you install wordpress on the new server either overwrite or replace the wp db with your old one which will contain all the comments, users, etc.

TBH, I wouldn't recommend using the auto install of scripts from cpanel for these normally pose additional security risk.

edit: Yeah, also if you have additional themes you'd want to back those up along with everything that doesn't come with the auto install.

But like I said the best way is to back everything single file up using ftp and then upload to your new server and install your old database there after and then editing your wp-config.php file with the new database info.

It would be ALOT easier if you just ask your new host or the root user of the server to transfer/restore your files...

Saves the hassle of manually doing it which could take ages :).

Yeah, ask your host.
