Just a quick note to everyone selling layouts here, please look at the size of your bg images and optimize if necessary. I've gotten many layouts here where the background was nearly 2MB in size. After compressing, the bg.jpg was around 150K without any noticable difference other than the amount of bandwidth they take. Since resource sites are such hogs anyway, I'd also suggest optimizing all the graphics for size. I took a folder with 20 layouts from 18MB to 6 just by optimizing the bg, contact, and extended graphics.

Thanks,

Chris...

Yeah, save them web optimized as gifs. I've found that works wonders, some layout sites I go too take ages for the layout previews to show up. Remember, the people are going to like the profile if they click it and it loads and looks awesome, quickly as possible!

I like to experiment with using both .gif and .jpg formats as images with only a few different colors and no gradients seem to be compress better as a .gif while images with alot of color or gradient effects seem to do better as a .jpg before showing distortion.

Yeah just like seoelite said a general rule of thumb:

photographic (lots of colors) = jpg
graphics (not many colors) = gif
