Anybody noticed this and/or know what it means?

From your MySpace home page, go to My Account >> Linked Sites:

You'll see this:

Sites You Have Linked To Your MySpace Account

This page lists 3rd-party websites you have linked to your account. You can control which data you share with each site, or remove that link completely.

Your account is not linked to any 3rd-party websites at this time.

I find the wording kind of ambiguous.

The only reason I noticed this was because someone is using one of my layouts and all my backlinks do not appear on their profile nor do they have any CSS code suppressing those backlinks. And in the source code, the backlink code is still there. So I'm wondering if this is some new feature MySpace is starting to roll out allowing people to remove links from their profile at will.

I think this is fairly old... but yeh it disables links as you assumed.

As you see people have the option to block all links going off their page so they are useless.

Old as in, what, 3 months, 6 months, a year? This is the first time I've noticed it. Also, it doesn't appear to work. I installed one of my layouts on a test profile and went to the Linked Sites page and I still see the "Your account is not linked to any 3rd-party websites at this time" message.

Okay it appears as if this has nothing to do with actual hyperlinks on your profile but rather with web applications that are data-linked to your profile. This account setting will apparently allow you to control how much data those apps have access to or you can cut off access to your data altogether. And it appears -from posts on the MySpace forum- that this is a fairly new feature.

I don't think anybody will really use it though. It doesn't seem like an appealing feature. Just a time consuming one.
