There have been numerous times this topic has come up so I thought it would be easiest if a sticky thread be made about how to make myspace layouts MSRS compatible.
The file structure works like this:
Layout_1 (This will be the folder that you have the files for a single layout in)
---css.php
---bg.jpg/gif
---contact.jpg/gif (optional)
---network.jpg/gif (optional)
---thumb.jpg (must be .jpg)
The css.php is your basic about me code.
I hope this tutorial and explanation has helped everyone. If anyone has anything to correct me about, please feel free to do so and I will correct it.
Scilynt has provided a sample layout for you to "see and believe" and actually know what it looks like.

Thanks for posting that. Does the script adjust the extended network banner segment of the css to the size of the graphic dynamically, or is it a set 435x75px?

The css.php determines the network banner size for layouts. I use several different size network graphics with my layouts and they work fine. The network graphic mod for MSRS is set for 435x75 but that does not have any thing to do with the layouts. More info on the network mod here:

So do we just take out the background image code? What about its position and whether it's tiled etc? Is that still coded?
Also, are the other images (ext. network etc) coded too?

I understand why people feel this is confusing.
I think you have written your little tut. very clearly lol...And it I do understand what you mean now...I'm just one of these that "seeing is believeing" so I'll always feel worried I'm doing something wrong until I actually buy the script make a layout and put it onto MySpace to see if it works or not kinda thing...lol

Selena, here is a sample pack I was sending out to people to give them an idea and see it first hand. You can add it to your first post if you want:

It doesn't have networks or contacts though.

My Space Resource Site/Script
The script that the site owner Greg-J sells on DigitalPoint, the script that 95% of users here run their sites off of. The reason we're all here on this forum. Look into it some more before looking more into the forums and you'll understand a lot more!

i am trying to upload some layouts to my site.
the script is calling the background image fine.
but these css are not calling for extended banner or contact tables.
most of the layouts i have purchased on this forum are calling for network images and contact tables from fixed urls.
please if some one could send me a copy of css that call from network banner and contact table from with in the same folder.
i have tried a few things but i am not a pro on css.

Any chance you can also send me a sample of that css with calls to extended network images?

Hey NY
Just make the code for a normal layout and everything then delete the img(src) line and msrs will use the pic automatically. Leave in everything else though about the banner.

Around 300px in width, and whatever height you feel looks the best.
