my tracker says msplinks.com is UP 0.30% between yesterday and the day before
might be because i had a different domain (not whitelisted) redirecting when i got blacklisted idk.. :chinese:

They put msplinks on all links that are on the top - left corner of someone's layout, with 150px + width, that covers the link "home" so that the one who clicks doesn't get brought back to myspace's homepage, but to that website instead...
I have it on my layouts codes, guess I need to change those before myspace flips & blacklists the site x.x

wow how did u found out?
I was getting referrals from msplinks so I got concerned & checked myspace if whether they've blacklisted me, but all graphics I found that were linking to my site didn't lead to a warning page, & then I realized that only those links on the top / left were going to msplinks.. >.<
The graphics work fine though, it's just those that aren't.. I guess they no longer allow those..

Really? That's terrible, how do you know that?
Coz if it's only based on getting the msplinks page, I don't think it's reason enough yet since everyone is getting that for their sites as of now..?
& You all know what guys, I don't think we should give in to myspace controlling us like this. They know how they can affect us so they are unnecessarily driving us crazy.
I don't think they even have any idea what we can actually do to them, they probably think we can't let them go coz of all the traffic they send us.
Well, you know, if we really wanted to, we can actually control them back.
If we all stopped releasing myspace stuff on our websites, all of us, & start providing Friendster layouts, or Hi5 layouts instead, it's going to be the start of their downfall.
When people do not find any customizations for their myspace profiles anymore, and find customizations for Friendster & Hi5 profiles but not myspace, they're going to get really curious and end up making a profile on these two other social networks instead. & Believe me, with all the customizations they find from our sites they aren't gonna wanna leave.
We really should not give in to myspace doing this to us, they are being really selfish now because they're confident we can't affect them. So I think the next time they go do something really stupid, we should all just dump them. SERIOUSLY.

In what part of my post did I imply that they had no right?
It's their website, they can do whatever to our links if they wanted (& they've been doing so for the longest time since), which was why I suggested quitting myspace..?
& Search engine traffic? MySpace doesn't really rely on that, what do you mean to say? That people go to google and search "Myspace" to go to myspace?

I highly doubt that there would be a boycott. People are still making money....maybe a fraction less, but no doubt enough to carry on. They must have gotten tired of all the emails about "whitelisting"...and said let's just give everyone the same warning message and be done with that.

No didn't mean it like that.. just that if it weren't for Myspace none of the myspace resource sites would have gotten this big. Offering layouts for sites like Hi5 is impossible, almost nobody uses them. Hi5 already has a big warning on the profile whenever someone's using a custom layout, telling them to switch to one of Hi5's premade layouts. The Friendster niche is also a lot less popular than Myspace so I think we have no choice but to go along with whatever they do to get rid of us..
By search engine traffic I meant people searching for myspace resources. Myspace won't be able to control traffic sites get through search engines. :)

Ahh, very clear with that now, I understand.. :winkiss:
But it just totally annoys me to no end how they can toy with us, they have the capabilities & everything after all, ugh.. It's like, when they remove our whitelist, we all go sad, but when they put it back, we are all happy.. They just have too much control over us.. :2guns:

$500 a site per month... 200 sites do it, $1.2 million a year. Think about it MySpace! And for people who don't want to pay out that much the old whitelisiting route can still be active, but you may be blacklisted randomly if they don't like something.

Each sites value is only $12 a year to them then. They'd kick people off just like they do now. I guess $10,000 or figures like that are still pocket money to News Corp, but it's certainly more than $12 and would stop people randomly being blacklisted and refunded without a second thought.

Then you get blacklisted for life with that domain/name bank account/paypal and waste $500. That's the another point to the higher fee so people can't just cheat the system everyday.
You should have to agree to T&C that if you abuse the MySpace License you'll be fined. They have your payment details after all. Shouldn't be any complaints about that seeing as we all want to use it legitimately.
Andrew2
September 10th, 2008, 01:10 AM
Right, 500 a month is ridiculous though. Not even large sites would agree to that since myspace traffic usually isn't the leading referrer.

That's wrong. MySpace profiles for bigger sites are the vast majority of refers. Like I said, the old system could be kept in place for those who aren't generating enough $ to pay the fee, once their sites grow they can chose to pay!

Also, random side note, since there's a lot of White List talk here:
Our MySpace contact let me know that they're getting a lot of emails to their Canadian Office for white listing requests... this slows down and sometimes hinders the process of getting white listed. It also might be the reason some of you are getting some rather confusing responses.
The actual email, and by far the best choice, to send white-list requests is this: abuse@support.myspace.com
Also, we've been kept in the loop a bit about the recent issues with the MSPLinks system. They aren't trying to kill any of us off, not to worry. It is/was affecting pYzam as well. :-)

Love, its ok to use Gigya on your myspace sites, Gigya said they had an official ok from Myspace's Security, it shouldn't cause your site to be blacklisted now. Ang Gigya was really helpful in getting my sites whitelisted again, all from a misunderstanding on the canada site. Who ever said whitelisting should go to that cananda myspace email should be shot.
