So I'm using Marshall's old Complete cms script on my site. I want to change to the new one because, well, for obvious reasons! Has anyone else done or attempted this? Shouldn't be too hard right? Please tell me it's not hard?:no:

Any advice? :D I'm not even sure how to do it, I'm just going to wing it! :sweatdrop: :death:

do you mean from the non-database version to the database version?

if you have an "aged" site then you either will need to 301 redirect to the new urls or you'll need to modify your .htaccess to keep your existing url structure and map to the new cms. This is to maintain your google/yahoo/msn/etc. (search) rankings. If you don't care about this, then it'll just be configuring the new script.

Yeah I don't really care about that at this point. I really never worried about SEO before now, which is my main reason for switching. I'll probably still redirect though.

then if you don't care about seo then I'm sure you can wing this. If you want to get a little slick then you can do the redirects

So how would you recommend doing it?

you can do a 301 redirect to the new urls. PM me if you need help...send me a url to your site to do a quick look. I'm heading to bed for the night so I'll get back to you in the morning.

Lol, I meant the actual switching of the scripts. :P Never mind, I'm sure I'll figure it out, but thank you for your help!!!

If your main concern is just getting the content switched over, then drop everything in the cat folder into the proper import folders for the database script, then visit the admin panel and click import content.

The actual design is what will be the big issue here, since you will have to redo the coding for that, this can be done in the template editor in the admin panel, or through ftp ;)
