Yeah yeah yeah, they probably didn't want this modified, but whatever. I was surfing the web today and came across some girls cutenews article with over 200 SPAM COMMENTS IN IT.

So I decided to bury myself in the files and make sure spammers wouldn't bother with my website, so I wasn't victimized. Instead of forcing people to register, I just rewrote a few of the files.

Enjoy

Cutenews 1.4.6

Step 1 - Rename your cutenews folder to something random to prevent haxx0rs from finding the install path.

Step 2 - Go into the cutenews skins folder and add this between the head tags of the default skin. Or whatever skin you're using/

<meta name="robots" content="nofollow, noindex">

This will prevent haxx0rs from finding your cutenews directory through a search engine.

Step 3 - Download this
http://www.sendspace.com/file/kbkbkm

And put it in your inc folder. This will make spamming your site completely useless, as it'll turn all links (Even inputted ones) into nofollow ones ^.^

**** you spammers, and have a nice day.

Rep appreciated =p Or a thread rating.

Not trying to rain on your parade but making cutenews not indexed by search engines isn't going to stop the "script-kiddies" (just not what I would define as a hacker, not all hackers are bad either) from exploiting it. You might of help prevent spam. But cutenews is one of the most unsecure scripts out there. And they know that a lot of girls use cutenews on their myspace resource sites and since they're so easily networked together thru link exchanges they're going to eventually find your site.

Do you have a working example of this "safe" version of cutenews?
