Ermmm....Do you know much about Pixelling,
OK from the top
1) There are LOADS more brushes out there, there's new brush sites popping up all the time lol
2) Try Dingbat Fonts then Pixel them...or
3) try www.istockphoto.com (http://www.istockphoto.com) and just pixel over...Takes a long time though :(
or www.thedollpalace.com (http://www.thedollpalace.com) try using Pixel Dolls instead.
That's my quick tips ;)
Links:

www.sayclub.com (http://www.sayclub.com)
Hope this gives you a few bits and bobs to work with lol...I find pixeling my own over images found on google EG http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&resnum=0&q=cartoon%20cat&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&tab=wi
Then pixel over it and resize it...Google is ur best mate :P

just go to best buy and get the big box of clip art, i got a box with over 40,000 images on sale for 20$.

I'm not so sure about the legalities of using free clip art in commercial graphics, watch out i think those freebies are for personal use only. its cool to use them if its just for your sites graphics but selling would be a nono.

I don't think you are, unless you contact them and get permission

Hhmmm.... commercial use. Selling it is then I guess.

Selena

Hmm...that sucks.
I completely forgot about terms of use on clipart O__O
oh well, i suppose i can always use them for glitters on my site.

Izzy

How is the terms of use on clipart any different than layouts with celebrity photos? People sell those as well. It's no different.

By the way, that is a great link linda, I came across that site a while back and have been churning out the glitters.

You've got a point. It's just that I feel a bit of a hypocrite when I put a TOU on my sites and then I don't bother with anyone else's.

Who said it wasn't?

Ahhh well, I think I will use them for my glitters then. I suppose, like with the celeb photos, I'm not going to be the only one using them without permission. And they are good ones.

I think by "Commercial Use" it means like using it on major tv/ad campaigns rather than selling it on a forum or putting it on a site with adsense on it etc..lol!
However, sometimes you have to think at the possibilitys (would anyone really like sue you for stealing a tiny clipart? lol) and at the end of the day we are all hypocrites.
I would be willing to bet real $$ that there is not a single website on the internet that doesn't infringe on someone, somewheres copyrights in one way or another.

Arent you the one that wanted to sue Andria for hundreds and thousands of dollars for having a music-code site?
I know music isnt clipart, but it's "other peoples work", right?
What made you change your mind on the subject all of a sudden?
Aren't you being a little too much of a hypocrite right there? lol

That's the problem with this stuff...people create all these gray areas and personal
justifications. There really is no gray area, it's black and white. You're either using
someone else's content or you're not. You can't just use it a little bit.

Commercial use isn't only when corporations use it in some major way, it's every
single profitable use...no matter how small.

Most of what makes a Myspace resource site successful is copyright content, so at
least be honest with yourself :P

Selena

Well lets be honest here as well. You are "profiting" from the clipart because you have adsense or ads of some sort, on your site. which in turn will make you money. Whether you sell it to others or not, you still profit from it in some way. Big or small profit.

I'll admit, i use clipart without even looking at the Terms of Use, but lets face it, you put it online without some sort of tag, it'll get stolen. the end.

I really can't go back and un-take the clipart from the images i've already used. Its the same as using other people's glitter fills, or fonts, or things like that. Someone made the font, someone made the glitter fill, but your making profit off it. Right?? I can bet that there are at least a few people who never bother to read a README file that comes with a font, or read the TOU on a font.

You're right. The entire internet is basically stealing, with the exception of a few people.

I also agree with Tab though, of course :)

Can't say using others work is terribly wrong one way but it's ok another. If it's wrong, it's wrong.

But you're just justifying it right here. Selena, I'm not trying to rag on you in
particular, just playing devils advocate for the sake of discussion.

If you found another website was using, and profiting, from your glitter work...
I'm sure you would be quite upset. Take it back one level, and don't you think the
person that created the original clipart, or original font, or photograph,
or styles would be equally upset?

It's frustrating to me when someone places a value on the rights to something.
You wouldn't go to a friend's glitter site, and steal their glitters because you would
see all the creativity that they've put into their work. Yet a font doesn't hold the
same value? Do you know how much work goes in to building a quality font?
You can purchase a font, and freely profit off of it as much as you'd like.
Don't you think people should be a little bit thankful to the original creator?

I guess I find it unfortunate that the general consensus on copyright material
online is that it's free game unless you're caught. You can't tell me that the only
way to make a successful site is by not paying for fonts, not paying for clipart,
or not hiring someone to create what you need.

My 2cents.
I have been involved with clipart and stock photos since a few years now.

Using them on a MS site where you earn money (adsense or whatever) is commercial use.

Unless you have specific permission from the creators, there can be a chance of trouble.

I emailed them the other day asking for permission to use them on glitters that were going to be put on my site or sold to others and they said that I could as long as I gave alink back on my site. So yeah, I have permission :P

Good for you.

* When any of you ask for permission, you must tell the creators that the graphics get redistributed all over the net. Basically you give codes for redistribution.

* Fonts must be used as per the readme file which comes along. This applies to flash content as fonts get embedded there. I don't know what to say about graphics, but using with permission is best.

* Finally just check if the person who is giving you clipart and stuff actually is authorized to do so. If they are giving for free, is the stuff their own? Check it out.
