"Cool New People"

So yeah I logged in to myspace todady and happen to see a cutie under the "cool new people" section.....so I clicked it.

It takes me to http://www.myspace.com/rawkzon
It appears that it really isnt a human but rather some myspace webmaster that created the profile. Just wanted to point out that getting featured in that section is like getting an atomic bomb of traffic. Look at all of the comments she has. Wow! In four days she has recieved almost 1,500 comments, which is when the account was created.

Anyways just wanted to point this out and start some discussion on it. Are these "cool new people" chosen at random? has your profile ever been up there?

I've never clicked a featured profile, mostly because they are usually olderish people who i have no interest in checking out.

but i'd guess it would be nice to be featured there.
not sure how they are chosen really...its definitely something worth looking into

I always wondered about those featured profiles, I swear I see a rotation of the same ~20 people. Why I never thought about using this to my advantage, I have no idea!

Yeah i always wondered how they pick the chosen people. And nope when i was new I was never featured there.

I think one of my profiles was featured just after I started it....I suddenly got about 500 friends requests for no apparent reason.

I have basically the same thoughts as Selena. mostly people who in which I have no interest in.

I am barely on my layout site anymore just my personal and on my personal I only add people that I know..

I see the same people there all the time. There are some rotations, but its always the same small group of people i see.

I noticed that the myspace account of last years' Big Brother Australia winner is always in that, I always see his profile there, its quite strange :x

I'm positive that they have a rotation of maybe 25-30 people there, but how on earth do they pick them...

oh yes the cool new ppl, i always leave a comment on those profiles with a link to my site, i mean thats like getting some free advertising for yourself through someone else getting free advertising.
