I'm currently using zonealarm free.

Which is the best firewall that offers the better protection?

I use zonealarm free, have for about 3 years and never had issues. ZA is one of the highest rated firewalls out there. Stay away from Norton, it's a system hog and can lock you out of your own PC (happened to me twice before I ditched it)

This is another good free firewall http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/index-hireit.html I've used it but its almost too good, a little more hands on then I like.

I think I'm gonna try the comodo firewall. I heard it beat zonealarm and other firewalls on a leak test.

I been using zonealarm for 3yrs or more also.

Today I did a windows update also, and noticed on zonealarm I cannot put the security to steath, it won't load internet pages.

I removed zonealarm from my pc and installed Comodo. So far so good too. No bull**** alerts.

BlackIceDefender, used to be the best back in the day, back when kids would have "harmless" hack wars with their friends. I use norton security's default one now tho.

I am testing Comodo at the moment.
So far so good :)

Just an update on my experience with Comodo.
I have just uninstalled it.
It was really good at first but the more things I installed the slower and slower it made my rig.
I then had trouble installing things properly and then it started disconnecting while playing games online yeterday.It also was constantly accessing my HD when browing web pages etc.
Uninstalled about 2 hours ago and my rig is back up to speed and connection is perfect.HD access is back to normal.
